Couldn't be more proud of my KCL North Real Madrid 2012 boys performance in the KC Super Cup this weekend, finishing 2nd.

Coming back from being down 1-5 at half to forcing a PK shootout, shows a lot of courage and leadership to get yourself back in the game. Unfortunately we came up a just little short from the spot.

I have had the privilege of Coaching this young man for about a year and a half. The amount of growth I have seen from him as a player and a leader is incredible and hard to put into words. When Brody first began playing for me, he was a quiet and timid kid that seemed like he was happy with the ball on the other side of the field. Seeing his confidence grow and be a player that doesn’t just want the ball, but demands to have the ball because he knows what he is capable of. But what impressed me the most on this goal, was his knowledge that we were still down a goal with limited time left; and he stops mid-celebration and runs back picks the ball up and places it in the middle and gets his team back ready to play. Great goal Brody!

It’s not always about results, it’s about the bonds you make with your team.

The smiles and friendships that these boys have created over the past year is worth more than any trophy they could possibly win.

This is one of my favorite moments from this past weekend, and probably for the whole year; and it has nothing to do with the play on the field.
