Zombie League- Fountain City Roller Derby

Introducing the one and only, Wine & Moen!!
She is a science teacher. She watchs a lot of TV, audiobooks and reads quite a bit. She loves live music. In 2019, she went to 19 concerts!

She mostly prefers to play pivot but will play anywhere! When asked about her derby name; she stated she complains a lot, so whine & moan wasn't a stretch! The wonderful (and very much missed) Stabby Doo insisted that she used the "&" symbol. Her individual roll out song would be; The Hives- Hate to Say I Told You So

Wine & Moen says derby is a wonderful community of people. She has left and came back a couple of times. She was first drafted as a Deadly Siren. She took some time off and was warmly welcomed to the Lovely Lethals. Then life got busy, so she decided to join the Zombies this year!

Next up is Tootie RAMsey!
She is from southside KC and is a proud HBCU grad - Grambling State University (north Louisiana). She's been a nurse for 20 years and she loves it but being a mom to three kind, confident, hilarious little (almost grown) people is definitely her greatest accomplishment. She loves going on trips to see new places, hanging out with her family and finding random new hobbies. She LOVES learning new stuff, music, scary movies, true crime, being outside, she's super crafty and she's a pretty good seamstress.

Her derby name is from a show she loved growing up - Facts of Life! Her number is 62 - she chose it because her dad was an amazing basketball player and wore #31 as an All American. This is the first sport she's played where she could be his number - so she chose 62 as his “second coming”. There's something she enjoys about ALL the derby positions, but her favorite is probably pivot (especially when she gets to take over as jammer).

When asked what her individual roll out song would be; Tootie did not disappoint! She LOVES music and is the dj at all the family functions so asking her to choose a rollout song is like asking her to pick a favorite child. She literally made a 7hr playlist trying to come up with one. One day im Rebirth of Slick (diggable planets), next day im Hit Em Up (tupac). Today imma go with Knuck If You Buck (Crime Mob) but if you ask her tomorrow the answer would probably be something different!!

Back on the track after a "9-month injury"❤️, Introducing Jack Attack!

Jack prefers to play inside blocker. Her husband actually came up with her derby name! She wanted something punny with her real name, so he helped her figure out one that not only rolled off the tongue, but also rhymed. She enjoys the comradery of derby. Everyone is there to lift you up and make you feel good regardless of skill level. It’s a fun social outlet and she loves to hit her friends! Jack's individual roll out song would be Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon!
In her free time; Jack enjoys doing crafty projects!

This is Artemis Primal!
Artemis is parent of 3 bio kids and 2 bonus kids. She has 3 dogs, 2 rats, and a guinea pig. She is a full-time remote manager and travels for work quite a bit. Her hobbies include thingmakery and artsuffs like crochet or watercolor, and nerd stuffs like tabletop games, Star Trek, comics, etc. She enjoys writing and reading.
Her real name is Cynthia, which is an epithet of Artemis. So basically, she just named her derby name after herself! In Greek mythology, Artemis is Goddess of the Hunt, and often depicted with deer. But her favorite animal is a tiger, so she thought, "How can I call to that in my name in a creative way?" So, she chose Primal.
And it's nerdy because it kind of mirrors to Optimus Prime as well, as she digs the Transformers.

She enjoys the physical challenges of derby and playing on a team. She doesn't typically engage in physical activity alone, she really needed something to push her out of her comfort zone AND be active. She enjoys playing all the positions of derby!

Introducing Jägerin!
Jägerin has been skating with FCRD for the past 2 years! Jägerin has been roller skating since a very early age. Having recently moved to KC, she wanted to make new friends with an inclusive sport. When not playing roller derby; she loves going to Zumba classes, or strength training classes. She really loves working out with others. She also enjoys reading, trivia nights, and cuddling with her cat. She works in accounting and will be getting married with month!
Jägerin prefers playing as a blocker but has recently had the opportunity to start playing as pivot!
Jägerin's individual roll out song would be Swag Surfin' by FLY
We have loved watching you becoming the derby player you are and cannot wait to see what you'll achieve!

Introducing Book Squirm!📖
Book Squirm is a lead book seller at Barnes and Noble so of course she is an avid reader! She also enjoys to knit and spin yarn. Her and her husband enjoy watching old horror movies together. Their current favorite is Monolith Monsters.
Book Squirm enjoys playing as a blocker. She says there is nothing more satisfying than catching a jammer and sitting on them! She would eventually like to learn how to play all positions.
Book Squirm says the thing she enjoys the most about roller derby is the community!
Book Squirm's individual roll out song would be Bodies by Drowning Pool.

Introducing, FALL RISK!
FALL RISK does all the extreme sports; BMX, skateboarding, quads at the park. His favorite dinosaur is the pachycephalosaurus and he enjoys ramen noodles.
FALL RISK got his name from a computer glitch at the hospital after he fractured his spine. He was locked in as a fall risk for a year and a half. Every time he had a doctor's appointment, the nurses would push him around in a wheelchair.
FALL RISK enjoys being a jammer and hitting his friends. His individual roll out song would be YOLO by su***de silence.

Introduction the BIRTHDAY GIRL, Arya Snark!🥳
Arya is a crisis worker at a mental health center. She has one dog, 6 siblings, and LOVES to travel. She recently spent 10 days in Spain before our latest bout in April.
While her coaches like to put her as jammer; Arya has enjoyed learning how to pivot and loves being a blocker. Arya states she is a "super nerd" and loves Game of Thrones. She is channeling her inner Arya Stark energy. She enjoys being able to get her energy out in a non-traditional way by hitting her friends legally and safely!
Arya's individual roll out song would be Break by Three Days Grace!

Introducing, Helliott Rage!
Rage has always wanted to play roller derby! She enjoys being a blocker but has high hopes of scoring a point as jammer one day. Her wedding anniversary is on Halloween!🎃
Rage choose the number 988 because, it is the National hotline for Mental Health Crisis lifeline. This number can be used by anyone in the US to be routed to a trained counselor in their area. She made this her number to remind people of this number every chance she gets.
Rage's individual roll out song would be Happy by Pharrell that then cuts into Bodies by Drowning Pool. We look forward to watching you grow and achieve your goals!

Introducing the beginning of our Zombies, Snow Fight!
Snow Fight is an aspiring novelist. She is currently working on a set of romance series right now! She is trained in Opera performance and has played the piano since she was five years old.
Snow Fight believes she will be a great blocker one day! Her favorite thing about Derby is that while she is taking her time to learn how to skate; everyone has been extremely supportive of her. She states coming up with her derby name was not an easy decision as everything she wanted was already taken! Luckily, Texas Outlaw was able to help her! Her derby name is inspired by her favorite Disney princess, Snow White!
Snow Fight's individual roll out song would be Don't Stop Believing by Journey!
