Rising Hope, Inc. mourns the loss of a beloved, long time volunteer faculty member, Orlando Rodriguez, who passed away on January 4th. Orlando was a professor emeritus of sociology at Fordham University and was nationally recognized for channeling his grief after losing his son on 9/11 into activism for peace and restorative justice. Orlando began teaching for Rising Hope at Green Haven in 2004, and later moved to Sing Sing in 2014. Orlando was passionate about transformation and contributed greatly and supported such transformations for individuals in the Rising Hope program in prisons.
Orlando is in this Greenhaven Graduation photo; he is in the back row with sunglasses.
