With heat waves sweeping across the country, blue-green algae is appearing in new areas and posing an increased risk to pets.

Found in lakes, ponds or any source of standing water, it’s extremely toxic and consuming it can be fatal. The best way to prevent accidental poisoning is to keep a close eye on pets when they’re around water.

If you think your pet has been exposed, take them to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital and contact the ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435.

Our hospital has been effected by the major Microsoft-Crowdstrike outage. We are currently seeing all appointments as scheduled. However, we are unable to book future appointments.

If you do need to be seen, please stop by with your pet and we will see patients as availability allows.

Tornadoes form during intense thunderstorms and can reach wind speeds of 200+ mph. Although tornadoes can occur anywhere, they are prevalent in the Southeast and Midwest. Stay informed by downloading the FEMA app and signing up for weather reports and evacuation notices.

Keep a list handy of pet-friendly shelters and contact information for your local animal control office and ASPCA Poison Control (888-426-4435) in case of evacuation.

We celebrate and welcome everyone - and their wonderful pets!

Eros came in for a check-up and left ready for Pride festivities last month. We like to keep bandanas sprayed with ThunderEase calming spray in our lobby. This pheromone spray helps calm pets while the bandana - well, the bandana is just a fashionable way to keep the spray close to your pet's head!

Meet Miss Lola Cherry Cola! Lola is an American Shorthair Cat who loves attention. She loves it so much, the hospital is one of her favorite places to meet people! She does not love when her weight is taken and adjustments are made her to diet.

But, that is part of her preventative care so she can continue to have a balanced life.
