IT’S FRIDAY! Is anyone else a bit confused on the day during the week between Christmas and New Year? 🤪

Let us introduce you to Alex! He’s another provider we are beyond lucky to have here at PoM 🫶🏼

“I was always fascinated with psychology as I grew up the youngest of 5 sons in a highly competitive and athletic family.

I was a multi-sport athlete in high school and continued playing basketball throughout a full career at Viterbo University from 2010-15.
My initial ambition was to stay involved in sports and become a sports psychologist and coach.
As my basketball career ended, I became more in tune with my spirituality and decided I would rather get involved in service and bringing people together.

After undergrad, I started working at Chileda and immediately felt at home in working with children. I worked there about 4 years from 2015-19.

With a desire to improve by myself and others, I studied yoga during that time – I had a ‘lightbulb moment’ of sorts during a “yoga for mental health” weekend – that was in the late spring of 2018 when I applied for graduate school at Viterbo to get my masters in counseling.
Today, I am happy to serve the school-based position, serving mental health therapy directly in the elementary schools for Onalaska school district.

I utilize a variety of approaches to meet the dynamic needs of my clients; I often find myself using Play Therapy to support some of my younger friends, as well as EMDR for more challenging situations (like processing trauma).
The most rewarding aspect of my job, especially working in the schools, is maintaining strong connections with my kids; having them notice me and excitedly greet me in the hallways, playground, etc makes me feel like I’m having a positive influence on their development.
I also thoroughly enjoy being able to collaborate with school staff to offer various therapeutic tips and tricks to strengthen overall systemic approaches.

Outside of work, I am passionate about live music, nature, sports, traveling, yoga and spirituality.”
