WHAT IS SMU?
The Student Missionary Union (SMU) exists to motivate and mobilize students to align their lives towards the completion of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Our desire is to consistently raise up generations of student leaders who passionately and obediently serve Jesus throughout their lives. We encourage SMU to be a space that encourages curiosity, diversity, broadens perspectives, and helps to form a deeper understanding of missions and what each individualâs role is in proclaiming and demonstrating Godâs kingdom.

Restoration
-
The intention behind this was to showcase beauty in the broken. The character has the intention of having a relaxing time creating but when things do turn out the way she wants she becomes frustrated. Only when she takes a moment to look at her things from a different angle or perspective does she realizes that there is something special in the simplicity of the broken piece. She places it close to her heart and continues on. We wanted to capture the feeling of being restored while still acknowledging that there is brokenness leading up to it. The beauty in the broken is something you need in order to restore anything.

As the year comes to a close, we want to acknowledge the ways God has moved through a COVID year in SMU. With 23 staff members, local and global mission teams, and Missions Conference volunteers, God had sustained virtual ministry for his people to partake in the Great Commission and further his kingdom.

âIt was a season of realignment: restructuring internally, and reimagining all the ways that ministry and missions can be doneâ it was beautiful, humbling, and nothing short of an honorâŚâ - Bobbi Thompson, SMU President 20/21
