Beausoleil Books
Also, be sure to check out the Whisper Room, a secluded wine bar adjoining the bookstore!
Beausoleil Books offers a curated collection of best-sellers, perennial favorites, books in French, and books by diverse authors, as well as locally made products.
Our team in Lafayette is growing! We’re looking for new Booksellers with general availability (especially in the evenings and on weekends) who can engage with our bookish community and are eager to learn more about the book industry. Apply using the link below! (For those who have previously applied to Beausoleil Books in the past, it is recommended that you reapply as well) ➡️ www.cavalierhousebooks.com/work
July's Book du Mois meeting is this Saturday at 11:30! We'll be discussing Matthew Desmond's Poverty, by America.
Desmond's work is vital to understanding growing wealth inequality and will definitely give our group much to discuss.
This will be John's first time leading Book du Mois. He's looking forward to meeting the book club krewe! The store will technically still be closed for our remodel, so here's a sneak peek for our most dedicated bookies. Also, it's the day after John's birthday so surely there will be cake.
And we'll have copies of August's Book du Mois, Julia by Sandra Newman on hand as well as 1984 in case you are wanting a side-by-side reading experience - intertextuality is one of our greatest joys.
On se voit Samedi!
We are so grateful for the reception we have received from the Lafayette community! Y’all are really the best!
We’ve gotten some great questions that we’d like to address!
First of all, absolutely and without question, Beausoleil Books gift cards will continue to be honored at this location!
Sadly, The Whisper Room will remain closed. The building no longer has a functioning kitchen after the decision to close last year. We know this great spot will be missed!
The legacy of Beausoleil Books will absolutely remain! We have been throwing around tons of ideas from a possible book club, a bookish subscription box, to a Lafayette book festival! The sky is the limit but we absolutely want Beausoleil to be a part of our bookshop!
Louisiana history and culture is a big part of our mission! You will surely see that reflected in our stock we when reopen! The legacy of the Acadians, the Beausoleil Bookshop, and Louisiana as a whole is deeply important to us!
We are so excited to be exploring this new territory with all of our nouveaux amis!
Hi there! We'd like to go ahead and introduce ourselves - you may have seen some new faces in the bookshop over the past couple weeks. Well, we are John and Michelle Cavalier and we have just purchased Beausoleil Books! We've had our bookshop in Denham Springs for 15 years now and we are thrilled to be expanding on this side of the river.
Bryan, James, Haley, Blair, and Endya have passed the torch of this beautiful community space along to us and we are so honored to continue the work begun by this great team! The community has already been so welcoming to us! Frankly, we've fallen in love with you, Lafayette!
There are certainly changes afoot! As you may know, The Whisper Room closed its doors back in January and while we are sad to say it will not be reopening, we are thrilled to announce that we will have twice the floor space for the bookshop, which means more books for y'all!
To that end we will have to close the bookshop for a couple weeks. We'll have folks on hand should you need to pick up an order or if you have a pressing bookish emergency! You can call the shop at (337) 534-8233 or email [email protected]
Looking to support the store while we are closed? Aw, we love you too! You can do so at www.cavalierhousebooks.com
What will happen to Beausoleil Books? We will be reopening this August as Cavalier House Books, but we hope to serve you just as well as the Beausoleil crew has! Longtime staffers Lauren and Ashley are here and doing all they can to keep this transition seamless!
We are certainly sad that Bryan, James, Haley, Blair, and Endya have moved on, but we hope to continue this epic journey they began! And don't worry, they have all promised to visit when they come to town!
We'll let y'all know as soon as we have a reopening date in early August and will keep y'all informed of all the changes moving forward.
Here's to growth, here's to change, and here's to more commute time for audiobooks (or maybe even learning French, cher).

Suffering nightmares, Harry is desperate, but instead of help from a psychologist, Dr. Virginia Rankin, Harry falls headlong into the legacy's grip when he experiences an ecstatic utterance and reveals information he couldn't possibly know. Shocked that this stranger has knowledge of her family's dark secret, Ginny makes a frantic call to her brother, the Minority Whip of the US Senate, making him late for a meeting at a world economic summit, delaying him long enough to avoid a terrorist bombing that kills dozens. By saving the life of Dr. Rankin's famous brother, Harry has also sealed his own fate. Wanted or not, the Black Legacy has finally come to him."
