In 24 days we will be Wolf Connection Howl at the Sun - Adoptees & Foster Youth Alumni 10 Spots left: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/wolf-connection-howl-at-the-sun-adoptees-foster-youth-and-family-tickets-939834679827?aff=oddtdtcreator Why Wolves? ... Like many of us have experienced as humans, wolves are misunderstood. Yet science tells us the wolf is the first animal we ever associated with more than 40,000 years ago. Early humans adopted wolves and social structure, survival and hunting techniques. Researchers believe we have a memory of this bond in our DNA, so humans and wolves naturally connect at a deep, primal level, carrying great therapeutic value. These wolves were abandoned and rescued, hear their stories and find a new source of healing within!

It's foster care awareness month. Explaining foster care to a child is challenging. This video was made by Clinical Director Jeanette Yoffe for children to help them understand what is happening. Many are confused. Jeanette knows firsthand how it feels to be in foster care for 6 years. She has dedicated her life's work to help the next generation of youth in care to "make sense" of their unique and painful circumstance. What is Foster Care Book is available on Amazon.eg
typically aged between 9 and 12 years old, require various forms of support to navigate the challenges and transitions of this developmental stage. Here are some key areas of support they may need:
1. Emotional Support: Tweens experience a range of emotions as they navigate changes in their bodies, social circles, and self-identity. They need adults who can validate their feelings, provide a safe space for expression, and offer guidance in managing emotions effectively.
2. Social Support: Peer relationships become increasingly important during the tween years. They need support in developing healthy friendships, resolving conflicts, and understanding social dynamics. Adults can facilitate social interactions, teach social skills, and encourage positive peer connections.
3. Academic Support: Tweens are often transitioning to more challenging academic environments. They may need help with time management, study skills, and understanding academic expectations. Supportive adults can offer academic guidance, monitor progress, and provide resources for academic success.
4. Physical Support: Physical changes, such as puberty, can be overwhelming for tweens. They need accurate information about these changes, support in developing healthy habits (e.g., nutrition, exercise), and access to healthcare when needed.
5. Identity Support: Tweens are exploring their identities and forming a sense of self. They need support in understanding their strengths, values, and interests. Adults can encourage self-discovery, provide positive role models, and foster a sense of acceptance and belonging.
6. Safety and Boundaries: Tweens need guidance on safety measures both online and offline. This includes understanding risks, setting boundaries, and knowing how to seek help if they feel unsafe or threatened.
7. Encouragement and Motivation: Tweens benefit from encouragement and positive reinforcement. Adults can celebrate their achievements, provide constructive feedback, and motivate them to pursue their goals and interests.
By offering comprehensive support in these areas, adults can help tweens navigate this transitional phase with resilience, confidence, and a sense of well-being.
Understanding Attachment and how it relates to adoption is very important. We understand Yoffe Therapy Director Jeanette YoffeThis is the beginning of life when a baby leaves to say goodbye to their first birth mother. "The term ‘being in the fog’ is often used to describe the way adoptees feel, think, operate and relate before they come out of the denial, conditioning and ignorance that cloaks the impacts of adoption. When we don’t realise that the emotional pain, and many other difficulties that arise, are a result of being adopted, we blunder around in the fog not understanding what’s going on or why. We grope around in our lives, feeling somewhat lost, trying different directions but unable to find our way. Feeling alone in our situation – because no one else can see our fog or even knows it exists." - by Gilli Bruce
