Hunter:
Guide:

Late season muzzleloader hunts can be frustrating and rewarding. This hunt was no exception. The group experienced a roller coaster of highs and lows during this hunt. The beginning of the hunt was a little slow but things picked up a couple days into the hunt. A couple of blown stalks and even a miss didn’t really change the excitement of the hunt much but watching a buck they had chased for a couple days get shot in front of them took a little wind out of the sails. Nevertheless the group continued on and began a search for a unicorn buck they had heard of. Before they made it to their next place to glass the bumped into this wide buck. He seems to disappear just as quick as he showed up until he moved his head and gave away his location only 45 yards away. Nathan slipped into the draw the buck was hiding and made his shot count. The buck only seemed to be more impressive as they walked up. Congrats Nathan on a great buck!!

🚨 🚨 Massive Oryx Bull 🚨 🚨

is a Legend behind the Gun and definitely on his way to be a legacy Hunter.

On the gun: lukascrawford_

Guide:

Lukas and his dad Jason were some of our very first clients back when Lukas was in school. Lukas has grown up and is now in college. We have shared a lot of memories over the years in the woods with the Crawford’s.

Lukas killed a nice bull on a youth hunt years ago so we had hopes of finding something as good as the last one. Ryhan, Jason, and Lukas loaded up in the truck opening morning and headed into the desert. They looked over a number of oryx and even made an attempt to stalk a couple. Fortunately those attempts didn’t work out because later in the day Lukas picked up this bull. It didn’t take Ryhan long to know this was a hammer. After a little planning the stalk was in motion. The three of them snuck into a good shooting position and set up. After what seemed like forever Lukas settled his crosshairs and sent a bullet into the bull. He made it about 70 yards and bedded. One more shot was sent and this giant bull had expired. Congrats Lukas!

Rounding out Oryx week!

Shooter: Liam
Hired help: Casey/aka dad
Pack mule: landon_kz

First oryx
The team was chasing oryx all morning but found themselves a few seconds short of getting a shot off. Late in the morning they peak into a draw and caught this lonely bull feeding into a thick patch of mesquites. Thirty minutes later he hadn’t come out so the group moved in to cut some distance off. The sun got hugger in the sky and the temps rose to near 100. Landon was able to get the bulls attention giving Liam enough time to make a close shot count anchoring the bull. The boys then packed out most of oryx to the ice chests while dad broke him down.

Shooter: Alex (Alex.dtown)

Guide: Casey

Alex and his buddies Ryan and Asa joined up with Casey for a quick oryx hunt. After looking over a number of oryx the group had planned to attempt to relocate this bull which they had named Chip. Late in the day they did exactly that. Once they had got eyes on him again a quick plan was put together and everything worked out even better than they could have hope. Alex did his part and put one well placed shot on the bull bringing him straight to the ground.

Hunter: Chris Sanders
Guides: casey_wayne and ryanperalta

Chris and Jackson made their way to New Mexico to chase Oryx with Casey and Ryhan. Day one was an eventful one with numerous oryx being located and some super close calls. Day two would be very similar but finish on a high note midday when the group located a single oryx and made their move. Little did they know the single would bump into a couple more and make cross paths in a hurry. Chris was able to get it done with a his son Jackson by his side.

Happy Thanksgiving 🦃

Shooters: Thomas and Casey_wayne

📣: Casey

Tight lipped birds made this hunt a challenge. Early in the hunt Thomas lucked into a silent Jake at 40 yards. After that the duo would hunt for three days and never hear a bird until locating these two big Gobblers. After about 20 minutes of back and forth both birds strutted into range. Thomas laid the smack down under 20 yards giving Casey a chance to put down a bird of his own.

Off range Oryx
On the gun: Jordyn
Guide: Casey_wayne_84

First big game animal. Hunted with her dad and grandpa. Shooting her dads new rifle from . Most of the day was slow with no oryx sighted. Big rains pushed the group to higher ground to avoid being stuck. An hour before last light the group turned up a group of oryx feeding into a draw. Casey and Jordyn made their move when the last oryx fed out of sight. Jordyn made a perfect shot dropping the oryx straight to the ground.

Youth Off range oryx
On the gun: Hudson
Guide: Jared (prosurf)

Jared, Hudson, and Wayne (Hudson’s dad) located this animal fairly early in the hunt. They needed to shave of at least 500 yards. Most of which was through open terrain. Jared and Hudson crawled on hands, knees, elbows roughly 600 yards before they found a spot they would set up for the shot. Using Jared’s shoulder as a rest Hudson got stable enough to seal the deal on a great oryx.

When a Dream suddenly become Reality on a World Class Bull.

Shooter 🏹:
On the calls 📢 : .reese12

Andrew and Korey teamed up for what turned out to be a short elk hunt with a world class bull on the ground. After chasing some elk the duo would find themselves watching elk move single file through an opening. Once the bull stepped out, Korey stopped him with the calls and Andrew settled his sights. We can only imagine how long it must have seemed that arrow was in flight before disappearing through the bull. Congrats again fellas. This is one of those bulls dreams are made of.

Behind the 🏹 : Rick Ford

Guide: Shane Collard

Persistence pays off. Despite some slow days of elk hunting Shane and Rick kept their head in the game. With little time on the clock Shane called this bull in to bow range and Rick made his shot count.

It was sure good to hear from when he called to let us know that him and Jim had tagged out on the last day. These two put on some miles in search for a good ram for Jim. They had plenty of highs and lows but stuck with it and put a tag on a great ram. Congrats Jim! You earned that one!

Our last deer hunt of the calendar year was a fun one. We didn’t relocate our target buck but we looked over a lot of deer. After turning up a handful of mature bucks that were not your typical 4x4 let us know he would rather hang his tag in one of them over a young 4x4. Ultimately that bumped this buck that .meadors glassed up to the top of the list. He managed to give us the slip for a minute but in the end and .bender were able to pick him back up and and seal the deal. Congrats to Tony and the crew!

The youth hunts were pretty good to us. Here is brother and sister, Grant and Allie with their bucks. The deer didn’t want to move around much but eventually , Tyler, and Lacee had the them set up behind the gun and both tags were filled.

Photos from Cross Country Guide Service's post 12/10/2022

Next up to bat was Siennah. On the afternoon of the fifth day spotted two bucks bedded near a road but before they could get set up the bucks would get nervous a take off. It seemed like they went into a good area to relocate but after several hours the ground wasn’t able to turn them up. They decided to turn around and check in the opposite direction before dark. During the last hour of the day some luck turned up this within 200 yards. He almost gave us the slip but paused while going up a ridge and Siennah made a great shot dropping the buck with just a few steps. Another reminder that the last hour of the hunt can be just as good as the first. Way to stick with it guys and gals.

After a few days and a couple failed stalk attempts the group was able to turn up this buck. He was in some rank country with no way of closing the distance for a shot. After a quick discussion it was decided that if the buck gave Drina enough time to get really comfortable and dry fire she would be good to go. After a few minutes of coaching she made a perfect heart shot on the buck. .rek74 and Nemo kept eyes on from another angle as the buck stopped on a small cliff. The terrain was a bit too dangerous to navigate in the dark and temps were in the upper 20’s so we chose to recover the buck the next morning. Lucky for us it only got cooler and no meat was lost.

Photos from Cross Country Guide Service's post 12/09/2022

Our first youth hunter to notch his tag was Colten. His guide Josiah had put in the time scouting prior to the hunt keeping tabs on some target bucks. Fortunately they were able to relocate number one on the hit list on opening day. Colten and his dad got to walk up to a big NM coues buck. Great work guys!

Photos from Cross Country Guide Service's post 12/08/2022

This deer season has been a grind but we have helped hang some tags on some great deer. and turned up this heavy coues buck early on this season. Brendan made a great shot and hung his tag on his best coues buck to date. Good job guys!

Time to play a little catch up. October started out with a family off range oryx hunt. We set out into the desert with three tags in hand. The crew had a slow start and wasn’t able to get shots on day one. Day two started pretty much the same until and doubled up on a pair of nice bull oryx. The next day despite coming down with a nasty cold was able to fill his tag on a young bull and get some much needed rest. Congrats to the hunters! Great work by the guides Jordan, , and

09/25/2022

Congrats to Brandon for filling his tag on a nice bull in a unit that can be really tough to hunt. This dude is the real deal! This bull came in tight and blew out when he caught some movement he didn’t like. Luckily he came back to the calls and Brandon was able to take his time and make a great shot.

The day after the big rain Elizabeth and crew got to enjoy a little sunshine and lots of mud. We had a couple stalks that didn’t work out as planned but in the end Elizabeth made a great shot on a nice buck just before sunset. Well done kid!

Congratulations to Weston on his hard earned antelope buck. Weston was the lucky winner of our Jayce Stroman Memorial youth hunt. He and his dad Andy sat in the pouring rain for over two hours waiting for a shot opportunity. When the fog cleared, Weston made his shot count and was able to get out of the rain. Good job guys.
