Four types of symptoms of trauma as listed in the DSM-5 are avoidance, re-experiencing the traumatic event, hyperarousal, and negative mood and cognition symptoms. What does that actually mean you ask? After someone experiences a traumatic event, the action will remain with them as if you are reliving the experience. The individual will avoid places or activities that are constant reminder and become aggressive during different periods throughout the day. They might feel guilty as a form of self-blame and will always feel on edge as if they are expecting something harmful to happen.
