Many students are returning to campus for the first time since Dec. 6. The process of recovery from last month’s tragedy is unique for everyone at UNLV. Together we are .
Thank you for the outpouring of love and support we have received since the tragic loss of our dear colleague, Dr. Naoko Takemaru, associate professor of Japanese studies. We will forever cherish her memory. In addition to her inspiring teaching and research, we already miss her warmth, creativity, and generous spirit. Beloved by everyone who knew her, she was affectionately known to her students as Takemaru-sensei.
Many of you have asked how you can help during this difficult time. We hope you will consider:
-Attending the campus memorial at 2 p.m. Dec. 13 on the north end of the academic mall to honor all our colleagues who were lost in the Dec. 6 tragedy.
-Donating to the Dr. Naoko Takemaru Memorial Scholarship Fund to benefit future liberal arts students in the Japanese studies program. You can give at: https://ifolio.cloud/5603

Dear Naoko, you will be in our hearts forever! Te queremos, Naoko.
We appreciate the many messages of support we have been receiving from colleagues and students.
