Virus Variants Threaten to Draw Out the Pandemic, Scientists Say 04/04/2021

Some very wise words from Dr. Horowitz:

Every time I have tried to post a comment on FB about the article in the NY Times listed below, regarding the spread of variants and our over-reliance on vaccines, and quote the ivermectin studies as an option, magically, my post keeps getting deleted. This is my third attempt. I am going to leave off the link to the COVID analysis that I posted yesterday. Here are the salient points from the NY Times article about the spread of the variants:

"A variant is of concern only if it is more contagious, causes more severe disease, or blunts the immune response. The variants identified in Britain, South Africa, Brazil and California all fit the criteria.

B.1.1.7, the first to come to widespread attention, is about 60 percent more contagious and 67 percent more deadly than the original form of the virus, according to the most recent estimates.

The variant is no different from the original in how it spreads, but infected people seem to carry more of the virus and for longer, said Katrina Lythgoe, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Oxford. “You’re more infectious for more days,” she said.

While most vaccines are effective against B.1.1.7, researchers are increasingly concerned about other variants that contain a mutation called E484K. (Scientists often refer to it, appropriately, as “Eek.”)...The mutation slightly alters the so-called spike protein sitting on the surface of the coronavirus, making it just a bit harder for antibodies to latch on and destroy the invader.

Pfizer, BioNTech and Moderna already are testing newly designed booster shots against B.1.351 that should work against any variants known to blunt the immune response. Instead of a new vaccine against variants, however, it may be just as effective for Americans to receive a third dose of the Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna vaccines in six months to a year, said Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

That would keep antibody levels high in each recipient, overwhelming any variant — a more practical strategy than making a specialized vaccine for each new variant that emerges, he said.

“My only concern about chasing all the variants is that you’d almost be playing Whac-A-Mole, you know, because they’ll keep coming up and keep coming up,” Dr. Fauci said."

We are only considering vaccines as an option as cases still are continuing to spike. All the governments Easter eggs are in one basket, despite the ivermectin efficacy studies listed under COVID analysis:

•100% of the 49 studies to date report positive effects (24 statistically significant in isolation). Random effects meta-analysis for early treatment and pooled effects shows an 80% reduction, RR 0.20 [0.09-0.41], and prophylactic use shows 89% improvement, RR 0.11 [0.06-0.22]. Mortality results show 76% lower mortality, RR 0.24 [0.14-0.42] for all treatment delays, and 84% lower, RR 0.16 [0.04-0.63] for early treatment.
•100% of the 26 Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) report positive effects, with an estimated 70% improvement, RR 0.30 [0.20-0.46].
•The probability that an ineffective treatment generated results as positive as the 49 studies to date is estimated to be 1 in 563 trillion (p = 0.000000000000002).

This willful neglect of anti-virals astonishes me. There is nothing wrong with creating vaccines AND using effective anti-virals which can save lives. As I go for my first vaccine today (a spot finally opened up), I am continuing to use ivermectin prophylactically once a week, and regularly taking NAC, ALA and GSH *(see cangetbetter.com) since variants are a reality we must face.

I have made this prediction before, and I stand behind it. When Merck's and Pfizer's new anti-virals are released, I predict that the FDA approves them, without even a fraction of the positive efficacy and safety studies available for ivermectin. Big Pharma's hold on our health care system is incredibly dysfunctional. I have nothing against new technology and drugs and I use traditional medicine every day. Medications like dapsone, doxy and rifampin been a God send for my Lyme patients and they were created by Big Pharma. But shouldn't we should have approved a generic, cheap and safe anti-viral to save lives along with vaccines? But then the large drug would not have made any more money...I can not find any other reason as to why the science behind ivermectin has been willfully ignored.

Virus Variants Threaten to Draw Out the Pandemic, Scientists Say Declining infection rates overall masked a rise in more contagious forms of the coronavirus. Vaccines will stop the spread, if Americans postpone celebration just a bit longer.
