She chose to become a nurse for the dynamic role and the constant movement it offers. She is drawn to the science aspect of nursing and the ever-evolving field of medicine. Alyson's career choice was driven by her desire to learn and her aspiration to make a positive impact on people's lives through the care she delivers. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Utica University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Plattsburgh. Her favorite part about being a nurse is the patients. Alyson loves the meaningful relationships she is able to form with them. Early intervention can have a positive impact on how a child with autism develops now and functions in the future. It also enables parents to learn and understand autism and seek necessary support, which is crucial when raising a child who may exhibit atypical behaviors. Being proactive in monitoring your child's development is essential. It's SO important to communicate with your pediatrician about your child's development and address any concerns you may have. While high cholesterol is generally unwanted, it's important to recognize that not all cholesterol is harmful. High-density lipoprotein (HDL) is considered the beneficial type, while low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is the type to avoid. HDL is often referred to as the 'good' cholesterol, aiding in health, whereas LDL is seen as the 'bad' cholesterol, best kept low.

To capitalize on the benefits of HDL for optimal health, certain lifestyle modifications can elevate HDL levels and diminish LDL levels. Here are some strategies to achieve this:

- Embrace a diet that's good for your heart.
- Engage in regular physical activity.
- Keep your weight in a healthy range.
- Refrain from smoking.
- Control your blood sugar and blood pressure.

Every baby deserves a healthy start, and breastfeeding provides the essential nutrients needed for a baby's growth and offers numerous health benefits to both mother and baby. The journey of breastfeeding is unique for every mother. Whether it's your first child or you're adding to your family, each breastfeeding experience is unique. It's a learning curve where, as your baby learns to latch, suck, and swallow effectively, you'll discover the best feeding positions, how to interpret hunger cues, and ways to sustain your milk production and breast health. Breastfeeding creates an exclusive emotional connection between mother and child, a nurturing activity that deepens the physical and emotional bond. However, the choice to breastfeed is a personal one. As a new or expectant mother, you deserve support regardless of how you feed your baby. World Breastfeeding Month serves as a timely reminder to educate yourself on the benefits and realities of breastfeeding.

This is for all our fitness lovers out there!

Looking to improve your appearance? Start lifting weights and eating a healthy diet. To enhance how you feel, incorporate stretching. Stretching not only boosts flexibility and joint mobility but also fosters a sense of wellness. For the best results, stretch before and after your workouts, but ensure the stretches differ. Before exercising, concentrate on dynamic stretches with a few brief static ones, which can be easier on cold muscles. Foam rolling is also beneficial for relieving tightness, extending muscles, and enhancing mobility. Post-workout, increase flexibility when your muscles and joints are still warm. Longer static stretches at this time can help lengthen muscles and relax joints, leading to more robust, more flexible, and less injury-prone joints.

Swimming is an excellent summer activity, yet it carries certain risks. For instance, swimming-related illnesses stem from germs in the water where people swim and play. Drowning remains the top cause of death among children aged 1–4 and the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for those aged 5–14. Also, natural water bodies, like oceans, lakes, and rivers, present additional dangers. It is SO important to be informed about the safety and quality of these waters before visiting.

So what can you do? Understanding how to minimize the risk of injury and illness from the waters you swim and play in is vital for enjoying the full health benefits of swimming for you and your loved ones. Follow these guidelines from the CDC: https://ow.ly/r89o50SR8ea
