Our Pre-K Open House was a roaring success, empowering our students for a bright future!

08/06/2024

Dear Parents,

We are so excited about the first day of school. In order to make the first day run smoothly we are sharing a few tips and reminders with you.

1. You are welcome to walk your student into the classroom on the first day. Arrival will begin at 7:30 all students should be in the classroom by 8:00. On Thursday, students will need to be dropped off in the car pick up or breakfast line, no one will be allowed to walk inside.

2. Name Tag - Please be sure that your child has both of their name tags attached to their backpack (One on the front and the transportation tag on the back). If you did not receive one at the open house your teacher will have it ready tomorrow morning when you drop your child off.

3. Supplies- If you did not bring your supplies to the open house, please send a full-size book bag, a Ziploc bag that contains your child’s change of clothing (shirt, shorts, underwear, socks), 2 regular-sized towels (no nap mats) for rest time, and a family picture. Please make sure all items are labeled.

4. Car Pick Up - Car pick up will begin at 2:30 on Wednesday. You may want to be in line earlier due to traffic. The line will be extremely long and slow on the first day. Please be patient. Make sure your sign is placed on the passenger side windshield. Upon arrival, you will pull inside of the fence and stop by the open fence. A teacher will signal that car pick up has started. You will then pull down to the farthest open gate. We will be loading three cars at a time. Please do not get out of the car, teachers will load students on the right side of the vehicle (passenger side). Please make sure that your child’s car seat is on that side. Once your child is loaded in the car, if they need assistance strapping in please pull up past the fence to assist them. All cars will need to go through the car pick up line to get their child. Do not park and walk up to the Pre-K building. This is to ensure the safety of all the children.

5.If you do not have your car pick up sign you will be asked to park, walk inside, and show identification.

6. If your student is riding the bus please note that the bus will run late due to traffic. You are welcome to send a bottle of water with your child for the bus ride.

7. Extended day will not be offered tomorrow. If your child is signed up for the extended day please note that it will begin on Thursday.

Have a great evening and we look forward to seeing your sweetie tomorrow !!

Update for Lee County Pre-K Extended Day

The Extended Day Enrichment Program is now at capacity. You may still place your child on the registration waitlist. Someone will contact you when space is available.

Items to note for Extended Day:

● All Pre-K students will be bussed to either KPS or LCPS (depending on your school zone).

● Extended day is from 2:45 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. each day that school is in session.

● Pickup from Extended Day begins at 3:30 p.m. each afternoon.

● There is a $50 registration fee and then a weekly tuition fee of $60 per week.

● The registration fee is due on the first day your child attends EDEP and payment can be made at the time you pick your child up in the form of cash, check or money order. We do not have electronic payment capability. Once signed up there is a Billpay option.

● The weekly tuition is required whether your child attends one day, all five days or does not attend for a week. (With the exception of when school is closed: as in Spring Break)

Our Spotlight class of the week last week was Ms. Patrick and Ms. O’Quinns class. They had so much fun learning about the lifecycle of a butterfly. They watched the caterpillars go into cocoons and hatch, and then they released them in the garden. ❤️

A sweet student in Mrs Snyder and Mrs Thigpen’s class surprised the school with an entire team from Lowe’s and a garden makeover for our playground. We received a commemorative plaque and memories that will last a lifetime. We are beyond grateful to our student’s grandmother, the manager at Lowe’s, for setting all of this up and delivering the sweetest gift.

Thank you all of our Pre-K teachers for making lemonade out of lemons. We are are so thankful for each of you.
