What students are saying about Writing 1:
"You made class so fun and you pushed everyone to be creative. Everyone in class had such different personalities and interests and you made it work for everyone."
"Thank you for the encouragement through essay reviews and thank you for being so in touch."
The thing I found the most helpful was... "her accepting many questions to make sure I fully understood the subject."
New Teacher Spotlight! STEM, crime scene investigations (which all point to the existence of God), & geography are just a few of the gifts Ashley Rideout will be sharing with us on Tuesdays! Be sure to check out her teacher bio on our website to be fascinated with the life Ashley has lived. Fun fact: Ashley is 80% Norwegian & was even born on Norwegian Independence Day. She loves eating lefse, & visiting Norway is on her bucket list.
New Teacher Spotlight! Which do you think is more daunting...being a juvenile probation officer with Denton Co. for 8 years or homeschooling 5 kids? Rachel Rose, who has a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from TWU, will be teaching a criminal justice class for our high schoolers and history classes for our younger students. Fun fact: Rachel was homeschooled for all but one year of her life.
American Sign Language 1 has a new look! This class has been overhauled from years past so students can expect to learn even more ASL vocabulary in a shorter amount of time. What do Mrs. Hammond's students say about her? "(The) environment was super fun and made me look forward to class every week." "(She is) very helpful when you have questions and is patient." "She loves ASL and what she does and her passion to teach others ASL shows." "She is kind and understanding when you are nervous."
CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLASS-this class will look at various aspects of law enforcement such as the criminal justice system, trials, corrections, juvenile justice, laws of arrest and search and seizure, professional ethics, handling evidence, patrol tactics, investigations, specialized units, causes of crimes, the law as an occupation, and more. This class is full of discussion and will also have special guest speakers. There will be field trips to the juvenile justice court in Denton and JP court #3 in Lewisville. It’s great for anyone who is interested in any aspect of the law or those who just love the crime drama shows on t.v. Thrusdays 12:30-2:00 p.m. $60/mo.
