Feedback from our muscles and joints helps us know WHERE our bodies are in space and HOW much force to use. It is called PROPRIOCEPTION. This is not always a sensory ability that is well integrated and proficient in kids.
Children may crave heavy work activities that give feedback to their proprioceptive systems. These activities may be calming and regulating to them.
What proprioceptive activities do your kids love?

Thank you to Lewisville Police Department, Flower Mound Police Department, The Colony Police Department, and Carrollton Police Department for partnering with us in the DEA's drug takeback event! We will share the spring date as soon as we have it!
A big thank you to the community for bringing your expired or unused medications to the DEA Rx Take Back event on Lewisville High School on Saturday. In partnership with LISD Choices, we collected 26 boxes totally 711 pounds of drugs that were then delivered to the DEA for proper disposal.
These medications could have been taken and sold, or used by people without prescriptions, or gone into the landfill or down the drain to potentially contaminate our water supply.
Tomorrow (Oct. 29) is LISD's annual Medication Disposal Day. In partnership with CHOICES and the DEA, we aim to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of prescription medications.

Today is a historical day for su***de prevention and mental health in the U.S.! The National Su***de Prevention Lifeline, now known as the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, can be more easily reached by calling or texting 988, or chatting on 988lifeline.org.
988 serves as a universal entry point so that no matter where you live in the U.S., you can easily access 24/7 emotional support. You do not have to be suicidal to reach out. Our trained crisis counselors can help you through whatever mental health challenges you are experiencing.
We're so grateful to SAMHSA, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Federal Communications Commission, and our other su***de prevention and mental health partners in the field for working together to get us here, and we look forward to growing and expanding our services and supports in the years to come.
A mini Monday pep talk for us all:
Just a friendly pep talk for the beginning of the week.
