Words of wisdom from our Pope. Not sure I understand #13. Thoughts?

Pope Francis suggests 15 simple acts of love instead of fasting from meat.

1. Say hello. (every time and everywhere)
2. A thank you (even if you're not "expected").
3. Remind others how much you love them.
4. Say hello to people you see every day.
5. Listen to each other’s stories without prejudice, with love.
6. Stop by to help yourself. Pay attention to those who need you.
7. To lift someone's spirits.
8. Celebrate the good sides or successes of others.
9. Choose what you don't use and donate it to someone who needs it.
10 . When it is necessary to help another instead of resting.
11 . Remind with love, don't keep silent out of fear.
12 . Getting deep with those close to you.
13 . Wash what I use at home.
14 . Helping others overcome obstacles.
15 . Call your parents if you are lucky enough to still have them.

- Refrain from insults and pass on kind words
- Fast from discontent and fill yourself with gratitude
- Fast from anger and fill yourself with gentleness and patience
- Fast from pessimism and fill yourself with hope and optimism
- Fast from your worries and fill your trust in God
- Fast from complaining and fill your life with simple things
- Fast from pressure and fill yourself with prayer
- Fast from sorrow and bitterness, and fill your heart with joy
- Fast from selfishness and fill yourself with compassion for others
- Fast from unforgiveness and fill yourself with attitudes of reconciliation
- Fast from words and fill yourself with silence and listening to others.

If we all live this fast, our everyday lives will be fulfilled:
PEACE, TRUST, JOY AND LIFE

I am pretty sure most of my peeps have scene cartoons of joseph and Mary searching for lodging. The cartoons usually suggest that Mary was chewing Joseph out as many of us would do for not making reservations. While humerous, we know that Mary, the mother of God would never behave in such a way. This mornings readings provide a perspective of what really happened.

Enjoy...
“Mary remained with the donkey at the very entrance of the street while Joseph sought a lodging in the nearest houses—in vain, for Bethlehem was full of strangers, all running from place to place. Joseph returned to Mary, saying that as no shelter was to be found there, they would go on farther into the town. He led the donkey on by the bridle, and the Blessed Virgin walked beside him. When they came to the beginning of another street, Mary again stopped by the donkey, and Joseph again went from house to house in vain seeking a lodging, and again came sadly back. This happened several times, and the Blessed Virgin often had long to wait. Everywhere the houses were filled with people, everywhere he was turned away … Joseph led the Blessed Virgin to [a] tree, and made her a comfortable seat against its trunk with their bundles, so that she might rest while he sought for shelter in the houses near. … At first Mary stood upright, leaning against the tree. Her ample white woolen dress had no girdle and hung around her in folds: her head was covered with a white veil. Many people passed by and looked at her, not knowing that the Redeemer was so near to them. She was so patient, so humble, so full of hopeful expectation. Ah, she had to wait a long, long time; she sat down at last on the rug, crossing her feet under her. She sat with her head bent and her hands crossed below her breast. Joseph came back to her in great distress; he had found no shelter. His friends, of whom he had spoken to the Blessed Virgin, would hardly recognize him. He was in tears and Mary comforted him.”
