BrotherKeeper and SisterKeeper had their last meeting of the semester this week. We had two wonderful guest speakers who are local entrepreneurs and fitness gurus!

Good Afternoon!
Every year I make Winter Break Supplemental Food Bags for our BSHS Defender students and families. This year we have well over 100 families requesting food assistance.
I am reaching out for donations for new reusable shopping bags(see example below). They are easy to fill up, easy for the families to carry and make deliveries a breeze!
If you would like to donate, myself and our families would greatly appreciate it!
If your company has a box lying around, I WILL COME PICK THEM UP! If you want to mail them to me please send them to 201 Eastin Road, Attn: Whitney Young or BSHS YSC.
Please feel free to share!
My YSC heart is full today. BSHS BrotherKeeper and SisterKeeper had their first Mentoring Sessions today. Both groups discussed what helps define them as individuals and what they would like to work to improve. It’s was a great day in Defender Land. Thank you to all of our mentors for taking time out of the busy schedules to work with some brilliant students!
Hello Defender Families - here's more information regarding the district's 'Fam U' event on November 4 at Frederick Douglas 8am:
Fam U provides informational sessions for families and caregivers, enrichment activities for students of all ages, and district/community resources to help families stay engaged in their child’s education. We want to create a village that supports our students’ academic and social/emotional success in our schools and community.

This year we’ve added a new mentoring group “BrotherKeeper”. We are really excited to see this program continue to grow. Today a few of our BrotherKeepers were invited to read to a few classes at Mary Todd Elementary. These young men did a fabulous job reading and interacting with the elementary students. They represented BSHS well and a couple are now interested in learning more about being an educator!
Last week we had our SisterKeeper and BrotherKeeper Informational for new interested students. We had a great turn out and we’re looking forward to meeting regularly. Don’t forget to turn in your parent permission forms by September 22nd to be enrolled in either group.
Yes we now have BROTHERKEEPER! Our young men are excited!

BSHS SisterKeeper is a BSHS YSC sponsored group!
Today the Bryan Station High School SisterKeeper Mentoring Program was presented with one of the 2023 Golden Apple Awards!
With over 150 students enrolled in our program, it goes without saying that none of this would be possible without all of our BSHS staff mentors near and far. Thank you all for helping us continue to run this group! To our community partners that presented to our students during our “Phenomenal Woman Series” thank you for taking time to encourage and empower our students.
Today was a reminder of why we do what we do and we’re looking forward to the 23-24 school year.
