One of the items stolen last week was our laptop used by our Supervised Visitation Program to write reports for the court. If anyone has an old laptop they would like to donate, please contact Karen Trivette at 859-276-4457 ext. 232. All donations are tax deductible.
Expansion on our Early Learning Center has started. BCC will be able to offer childcare services to an additional eleven children between the ages of 2 and 5. We are still asking the community for donations of toys, books and money to be used to purchase age appropriate furniture.

Unfortunately, our non profit was burglarized overnight. Our building, staff offices and early learning rooms have been sufficiently damaged.

Our agency will join together with the community tomorrow at 6:30 at the District Court House Plaza for a candlelight vigil in honor of the memory of Librado Romero, who died protecting his daughter from her abusive ex-boyfriend and also in remembrance of those who lost their lives at the hands of their abusive partners.
Please join us. Let us stand together to end the violence.
Librado Romero's funeral is scheduled to be held at Fuentas de la Vida, the Hispanic ministry at Lexington First Church of God, 505 Kingston Road, in Lexington at 1pm on Saturday.

The Brenda Cowan Coalition is accepting donations for the surviving family members of the late Librado Romero. Librado Romero died protecting his daughter from her abusive ex-boyfriend.
The funds will assist in covering the costs for funeral and burial services and needs of the surviving four grandchildren. Please mail or drop off donations for the Romero fund at the Brenda Cowan Coalition located at 1364 Devonport Drive. Please specify on the check for funds to be given to the Romero fund. We participated in 6 health fairs in April and helped to screen a total of 385 women for breast cancer in Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Lincoln, Mercer and Washington Counties.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Whatever we can do, should be done, to protect children.
Our outreach staff participated in Health Fairs in both Garrard and Mercer Counties in March. We helped screen 62 women in Garrard and 67 women in Mercer County for breast cancer.
Our non profit is currently hiring Supervised Visitation Monitors. Flexible schedule, Monday through Saturday, pay rate $10 hour, college degree mandatory. If interested please submit resume.
