Hey MAPS!

We will be having our next meeting this Wednesday, December 4th at 6:30pm in the Multipurpose room located in the basement of W***y T. Library. This meeting will consist of free food and a student panel in which the students will discuss their experiences with admissions and give any advice regarding the entire process as well as answer any questions you guys might have.
Also our last bake sale of this semester is going to be this Friday, December 6th from 10am to 1pm on the second floor of the nursing building (you can either man the table or bring a baked good).
Lastly, in order to receive a t-shirt you need to pay your $15 dues. If you have not paid your dues just bring it to this meeting!

We will be having our second meeting this Wednesday, October 9th at 6:30pm in the UKAA auditorium located on the first floor of W***y T. library. We will be having a Kaplan ambassador come in and talk about certain tips on how to prepare for graduate exams etc. Food and drinks will be provided!

In this meeting, we will be discussing what MAPS is as well as our upcoming meetings and volunteer events. If you are thinking about joining MAPS, please bring your $15 membership fee. Hey MAPS!!

To those that are wanting to run for an e-board position, this is a reminder to text our President, Neely, by next Wednesday, April 3 at midnight with your name and position you would like to run for if you are wanting to participate in elections! With that being said, our next and last meeting of the semester will be Thursday, April 11 at 5:30 PM in the Alumni Gallery in the library.
If this time conflicts with any of the people wanting to run for a position please let Neely know ASAP! We really encourage everyone to attend this last meeting, and food and drinks will be provided!

Welcome back MAPS!!! We hope everyone had a wonderful spring break!
We are excited to get back in the swing of things with a meeting this Wednesday, March 20 at 6PM! The meeting will be on the second floor of the 90, once you reach the top of the stairs, one of the e-board members will lead you to the room that we’re in!
Kim Scott, Assistant Director of UK College of Medicine Admissions will be coming to speak so please come with any and all questions you may have regarding the application process for medical school.
This will be the last meeting we have before our Election Meeting. Therefore, it is crucial for those who have missed a couple of meetings to attend in order to meet their necessary attendance requirement in order to run for a position.

To those that are interested in elections:
Our President, Neely Patel, will be taking names for those that are wanting to run for a position. If you are not able to attend this meeting or would like some time to decide on what to run for, you have one week to notify the President. On election day, those running should have a speech prepared for the rest of the organization to vote on. If you have questions regarding election, contact our President!!!

Happy Spring Break MAPS!

We want to wish everyone good luck on their rest of the midterm exams and assignments this week!

With spring break being next week, our next official meeting will be Wednesday, March 20 at 6PM! The location as of now is TBA but will most likely be in the Alumni Gallery in the W***y. T. Library. Kim Scott, the assistant director of admissions for UK’s medical school, will be coming to speak. She will be giving a brief presentation and then answering any and all of our questions about undergrad, the admissions process, and life in medical school. More details will be posted closer to time to remind everyone about the meeting but we just wanted to let you guys know a little in advance! Food and drinks will be provided! Also, please don’t hesitate to email us about any questions or suggestions you guys may have!

Quick reminder that the Medical School Tour is TODAY at 6PM! If you will be attending, meet in the lobby of W***y T. Library at 5:40PM so we can all walk over to the medical school together!

Please come with any questions you may have about the admission process, life in med school, etc. Also please keep in mind that this is still a general meeting that will count towards your attendance points if you are wanting to run for a position during elections!

Hi MAPS,

I hope everyone had a great weekend! We officially have a UK Medical School Tour scheduled for this Wednesday, February 20th at 6PM! A medical student will be guiding us through the school, and we will be able to ask them questions. If you are able to go on the tour, please meet in the W***y T Lobby at 5:40 so we can all walk over to the med school together. This is a great opportunity that we hope you will take advantage of- especially if you are pre-med. We hope to see you there!

Hey MAPS!

We have some important updates for this week!

First, the Kaplan powerpoint from last weeks meeting has been emailed out for those who could not attend the meeting. This has some really helpful information on preparing for graduate school entrance exams (MCAT, DAT, GRE, PCAT, etc.). It also has a ton of other helpful information on what to do in your undergrad years to prepare yourself for graduate school!

The previous emails we sent out had the date for the volunteer event at Ronald McDonald house for this Monday. It has been rescheduled to Monday, November 26 from 1-3PM. Please let us know if you would like to attend. Also, a friendly reminder that you need to participate in volunteer events in order to run for an officer position for the upcoming year. If you can not make this time but still would like to participate please text Neely at: 606-224-5029!

We will also be having one last meeting for this semester next week! Another email will be sent out with more information on the date, time, and meeting itself!

Happy Wednesday MAPS!!

This is just a reminder that our meeting is TODAY (11/14/18) from 5:30-6:30 PM in the Alumni Gallery in the library (NOT the Multipurpose Room). This is directly to your right when you walk in the main entrance of Wily T.

We will be having a speaker from Kaplan come speak about preparing for the MCAT, DAT, GRE, and PCAT! She will also be giving information on the timeline of when things should be done in your undergrad career such as: what classes to take each year to prepare yourself, when to submit applications, and what the requirements are for each graduate school. So please come prepared with any and all questions! Food and drink will be provided!

Happy Wednesday MAPS!

There are a couple of important announcements for next week! First, the next MAPS meeting will be this Thursday, October 18 at 6PM in the Multipurpose Room (Room B-108C) in the basement of the library! We will be having two speakers come speak about different programs and opportunities available for pre-health students!

Our first volunteering event is also this Thursday, October 18 at the Ronald McDonald House from 1PM to 3PM! We will be baking cookies for those that live in the house! If you would like to attend and help out, please email: [email protected]! If you do decide the help out, please make sure you can 100% be there! If you have class and need to come a little late or leave a little early, just let us know in the email!

Reminder that you need to attend majority of the meetings, volunteer events, and bakesales in a given semester to run for an exec board position for the following year!

Happy Caturday MAPS! I hope you guys are having fun cheering on the cats!

The next MAPS meeting will be a professional student panel consisting of students from the College of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, PA, and nursing! They will be taking questions about what to do in undergrad, their personal journey to graduate school, and the application process as a whole!
We will also be discussing how to stay a member in good standing, the volunteering events we have planned, and handing out a few t-shirts!

The meeting will be Wednesday, Oct 3 at 6PM in the Multipurpose Room (Room B-108C) in the basement of the library! Free food and drinks will be provided!

Welcome back MAPS!

We hope everyone had a great summer and is easing back into the routine of school! With the start of a new semester, we will be having our first MAPS meeting this Wednesday, September 12, in the Multipurpose Room (Room B-108C) in the basement of W***y T. (right across from the writing center). There will be free food and drinks provided!

In this meeting, we will be discussing what MAPS as an organization really is as well as upcoming meetings, tours, and volunteer events that we will be hosting this semester. Hey MAPS,

We are winding down the semester! Hope all is well with classes. We are having a meeting tomorrow, 4/12, at 6pm in the Academic Science Building in room 103. This meeting will be very informational and many of you will benefit from exposure you will receive.

The meeting will consist of a speaker from PhysAssist Scribes, CONMIGO bringing a panel of students from the college of Dent., Med., Pharm., and Nursing. Also, Julia Berry, the academic advisor for the PA program here at UK will present. You will have a chance to meet representatives from various health professions!

If you have any friends that can attend as well, be sure to spread the word, anyone that is not a member of MAPS can attend this meeting!

Hi MAPS!

I hope the semester is starting off well. Now that we are in the swing of things, we will be having our first MAPS meeting on Thursday, January 25 at 6pm! The meeting will be held in room 213 in the Nursing Building! If you have any questions about finding the room please contact someone on the e-board! We have a student panel planned for this meeting consisting of students in PA, MD, Dental, Pharmacy, and Veterinary schools! Be sure to create connections with students that are in these schools and ask any questions you might have. They have a lot of advice to give!

Also, we are having a volunteer event on Sunday, February 18th at 2pm at the Ronald McDonald house! We are going to get together and bake cookies/brownies for the guests.

Be sure to note that it is required you attend 3 out of the 5 meetings we will have this semester, and 2 out of the 3 volunteer events, along with 2 out of 3 bake sale participation to be in good standing for the semester! Elections for next year's Executive board positions will open later in the semester!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break! This is just a reminder that the last MAPS meeting for this semester is today at 6PM at the Alumni Gallery in the library! We will be discussing how to prepare for graduate school exams such as the MCAT, PCAT, DAT, etc. We will also have a speaker that is excited to present a special offer specifically for MAPS members!

The Christmas Bake Sale is this Friday from 10AM-3PM on the 3rd floor of the nursing building in front of the cafeteria! We encourage you to bring in any and all baked goods! Please contact one of the maps members if you will be baking or manning the table! Reminder that this also counts as a volunteer activity to remain in good standing!

Hey MAPS,

We are excited to announce that we will be placing our order for the 2017-2018 MAPS T-Shirts this Thursday, September 28, 2017! T-Shirts will only be provided for those members who have paid their dues and gave us their shirt sizes already! Dues are mandatory to be a part of MAPS, and it ensures you the t-shirt. If you want your t-shirt by our next meeting which will take place on October 18 then you need to submit your payment to any of the methods listed below no later than Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 5:00 PM ET. In addition, we are planning to tour a medical facility for our 10/18 meeting and in order to tag along, you must be in good standing, which means dues must be paid. We highly encourage members to pay by this Thursday so you can participate in the next meeting AND get your t-shirts by then. Dues are $15 for the whole year.
