Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease that affects approximately 70,000 children and adults worldwide.

CF causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and other organs, leading to a variety of health problems, including:

- Repeated lung infections
- Difficulty breathing
- Digestive problems
- Liver disease
- Diabetes

Gene therapy offers the potential to cure CF by correcting the underlying genetic defect and benefiting the 10% of those with CF who are not eligible for life saving medications.

On this Giving Tuesday, we are asking you to donate to the Liv for a Cure Foundation to support our efforts to develop gene therapy for CF.

Your donation will help us fund the research that is needed to bring this life-saving treatment to CF patients who have waited far too long for their chance at a cure.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference.

Go to livforacure.org to donate đź’ś We will not be doing a FB fundraiser as they take a percent of your donations and we want to make every dollar you donate count!

Thank you for your generosity.

Together, we can make CF stand for Cure Found.

Research Into Genetic Therapies 08/22/2023

Research Into Genetic Therapies To treat cystic fibrosis, scientists are exploring ways to use gene editing, which would correct mutations in the CFTR gene, or gene therapy, which would provide a correct copy of the CFTR gene to cells. First, they must find a way to deliver the treatment to the right cells.

This is Livvy and Louis. Although they are 22 years apart, they still have one thing in common; they both have cystic fibrosis. CF has come a LONG way since Livvy was born and many new treatments (including CF modulators) have been developed. Unfortunately, both Livvy and Louis cannot benefit from the new medications since their mutations are less common, and science hasn't found the "silver bullet" they need...at least not yet! On June 3rd we are hosting an inaugural 5k event in Park Ridge. Please consider joining us or making a donation. Every dollar counts in helping us find a cure and a better quality of life for those children and young adults who suffer from CF.
Invest in research, buyback life.
