The paraphrased words were “I’ll get the post about the specials out so you can do your mushy 4 year post done later.” So, here it is….

4 years ago today. In the midst of a pandemic. We opened the doors to a space that never really was expected to be what it is. The goal was just to have a small kitchen to operate our food truck out of. And then the ideas started churning. And now, here we are. Celebrating four years in this small but mighty restaurant space.

A lot has changed, but important things haven’t. Most of our core staff has been here since day 1. Still rocking it and can now do all of this in their sleep. When lines out the door was a stressor, now its a Friday. Some cool air. Fun specials. But the heart of Muchachos is still the same. Sharing our love for people through food. Through service.

To my crew: you’re the best and I hope your time here has been fun, challenging, and full of growth.

To my sister: even though you’re dumb, you’re still pretty ok. Seeing you rocking the day to day has been fun and I know that gramps & grandma would be wicked proud of you. Love you, sissy.

To my family: thank you for the support. Dealing with my anxiety, my ups, my downs, for the jokes about selling the place, to making sure that I am ok. I would’ve given this up a while ago if it wasn’t for you all.

But most of all, to our amazing customers: seeing so many faces, day in/day out, whether new or old, your support has been wonderful. We literally couldn’t do this without you. Thank you for growing with us, for joking with us, and for continuing to come sit at our table. You are the reason why. Everyone is welcome here. And the legacy that my grandparents instilled in me of showing love through food, i hope you all feel that every time you come in!

So today, let’s party! We’ve got balloons, decorations, cupcakes, cookies, cheap drinks and 1 surprise.

It’s a HAPPY BIRTHDAY SURPRISE!!!!

Today is our restaurants 4th birthday! So to say thank you to all of you we will be doing $4 drinks all day! We also have cupcakes and cookies too! Come join our celebration!

Happy taco tuesday, lovers!! We’ve got them $2 street tacos!! We’ve got that new burger of the week “Everything but the chicken”. It’s a smoked burger topped with American cheese, hatch mac, pulled pork, floorburn bbq sauce and bbq chips on a toasted potato bun! It’s has 2 of the three main animal groups. Except chicken. Get it?

Anyway, can’t make it to the shop today? Come to East Lincoln to the Waterford Neighborhood and visit our food truck from 5:30-7:30! On 100th street just north of O and not quite to holdrege. You’ll love it!

Yooo! Happy new week! That means a new burger! “POP THAT THANG” is a jalapeño popper burger! Smoked jalapeno. Smoked hatch cream cheese. Smoked burger. Bacon! This thing is nice!

Today’s the last day for this beast!! The Randy’s Glazed Donut Burger has been crazy delicious!! It’s been fun to see the love these weird weekly creations are getting!!

LINCOLN!!! It’s happening! Give CTRL Coffee & Cereal Bar a follow for updates on when we are opening our Lincoln location!!

Coffee, cereal, and video games. Who would’ve known this fun little concept would’ve been as cool and wild as it has been! Being a stop for families during their trips to the Durham, the zoo, after farmers markets and the CWS has brought us so much joy and sharing so many special moments with you all has been the driving force to keep going!

We’ve learned a lot along the way. While summers are great, week days during the school year slow up for us. When school is out, we are always busy! But not enough to sustain us through winter unfortunately. Plus, we really miss having Muchachos right down the street!! 😂

So, we’ve made the tough decision to close our Omaha location on August 18th. We will miss all of our Omaha friends so very much. We’ve built so many great relationships and saying goodbye will be hard!

But with one door closing, another one opens!

We are going back to our roots and opening up in Lincoln!! We will be near Southwest High School, Costco, and Southpointe! Lincoln has always been home to us and we are looking forward to making some more memories with coffee, cereal, and video games in the Capital City! Our lease has been signed and work will begin soon!

Thank you, Omaha, for welcoming us in with open arms. Being part of this amazing coffee culture in Omaha has been wonderful. You’ve got a couple weeks with us, so please come see us and share your favorite CTRL memories with us!
