You're having low back pain (dull and achy)?
You may be suffering from anterior pelvic tilt.
Muscles to work: Abdominals, Hamstrings, Glutes
Muscles to stretch: Low back and Hip Flexors
Did you know that October is Physical Therapy month? And we happen to have a physical therapist! Come in for your physical therapy care for the following conditions and many more!
Unilateral exercises are key to improving movement, stability, and increasing strength.
Research shows unilateral lifts will not only activate muscle motor units in the dominantly loaded limb but the non dominantly loaded limb as well.
Sitting still for as little as 30 minutes causes low back muscle fatigue in healthy people. Shifting positions (even just a little bit!) 20-30x each hour has shown to greatly decrease discomfort in the neck and low back!
8 years ago we were still building out our current clinic (sometimes until late into the night)…and if you know Dr. Andrew - his personality hasn’t changed much. 😆

The importance of PACED FEEDING🍼
Whether you exclusively bottle feed or combo feed, it is important to implement paced feeding when giving a bottle.
Paced feeding allows babies to dictate the flow of the milk rather than the traditional feeding which pours way too quickly.
Traditional feeding (baby laying on back and bottle tipped down into mouth often results in:
-gagging/choking as they can’t keep up with the pace
-trying to push away the bottle so they can breathe/have a break
-increased spit up
-overfeeding
To pace feed:
🍼 have baby more upright allowing you to keep bottle parallel with the ground
🍼allow baby to suck briefly before allowing milk to flow (mimics breastfeeding)
🍼tip bottle just enough to allow milk to enter the ni**le (this will enable baby to control the flow)
🍼 allow baby breaks by bringing bottle back down and stopping milk from entering the ni**le
🍼if baby’s eyes widen, furrowing or they’re trying to pull away, they need a break and a slower flow
🍼 baby will be able to stop feeding once they’re full instead of being forced to finish the bottle (yay for saving breastmilk or formula!) please avoid pressuring baby to finish the bottle.
Paced feeding is important for newborns-young infants. It will also set mom up for success if she hopes to breastfeed and bottle feed!
Obviously, once baby is old enough to hold their own bottle and they become more advanced at feeding, you don’t need to worry about paced feeding as much.
Please share with new moms and dads! 🥰 It’s never too late to implement this feeding technique!
