Almost 20 years ago we opened Monkey Wrench, and shortly after we bought this wonderful piece of machinery, and after 18 years of near constant use, our well used spoke machine is headed back to the mother ship for winter break, little refresh, some rest and relaxation. Enjoy your time little buddy. Your pals, Eric and Nate
Doing a little “light cleaning” and swept up these Ti king cages in an equally light weight Ti Dustpan! Thanks !
had us put this really cool together this week, just in time for international single speed day! What a fun build, all dans idea and turned out great 👍🏼 all the cool parts were chosen. Enjoy the new bike Dan!
It’s Friday! Thanks to all the nice customers and friends who keep up busy! Here’s a pretty Boone Titanium cog with a rad endless spacer kit being held on with a dura ace 7800 12t lock ring. The customer who has this setup is going to have a sweet bike
Aaron here was first on the ibis dv9 sale going on, and took it straight to Bentonville the next day. Be like aaron and stop in later in the next two weeks to try out a dv9 for yourself, we’ll have some on the floor. Thank aaron and and our awesome rep
Again? Yep, the shop will be closed this weekend and Monday, have a good one folks. Back at it Tuesday.
The time has come for the shops annual summer break. A little reset for the two of us and we’ll see you all in august. Thanks for keeping us busy for 19 years, very much appreciated. Eric and Nate
Wagon Wheel Wednesday. April of 1999 Wes Williams of Willits Brand Bicycles recieved the first 29” WTB Nano Raptor that wtb made upon his information and request for a larger width 700c tire. He and his crew had already explored the limits of the bigger 700c offerings available like the Bruce Gordon rock and road and the continental Goliath. When they recieved the 29” nano a group of about 6 of Wes’s buddies had their “townies” converted from 26” to the new 29”. This one pictured belonged to Bob Poor, a very early proponent and ambassador to the big wheel. In our opinion nothing changed riding bikes offroad more in the last 25 years than the use of the 29” wheel. Thanks to Wes and the early crested butte Willits crew for pushing this tire size into use, and being persistent.
So many spaces for water bottle activities! But seriously, if you want to carry a bottle, on your bike, makes the very best cages to carry them in. Ti or stainless, under $30 for a handmade item by the nicest folks. Thanks for all the great products and chats over the years ron 👍🏼
New things in the shop Fridays! Sweatshirts back in stock, in the ever popular hood and pullover variety. Gotta keep the neck warm people. Some Hakkas and some rad new Wednesdays. Have a good one this Friday. And remember, call on down We’ll mail you a sweatshirt, usps style.
On this episode of front end Friday we have a wizard potion 🧪 HakkaMX. This is just an old iPhone camera, people, so like most things this paint job is even better in real life. 58cm with GRX and the ENVE bits, it’s become a crowd favorite.
New logos look really nice 👍🏼, sometimes change is pretty cool. This model ripley comes with optional customer supplied red dirt.
The trees 🌲 and a singlespeed. The woods have a way of making any kind of day just a little better. Any bike will do.
Phoenix Phriday by
It’s Thursday, which means it’s almost time for Off-road Saturday’s folks
Here’s a sweet tyaughton that our buddy Josh had us build up at the end of last week. Super fun bike and since the parts came off his knolly fugitive it was just some new cables and housing, chain and brake pads. Have fun with this bike Josh! It rips
Fun comparison: both made in California, one Titanium, 22lbs, 1995. The other Carbon, 26lbs, 2022. It’s pretty rad that ibis figured out a way to bring the modern technology back to California and make one here, just as they did in the beginning.
Fun bike Friday! Ibis got us one of their new handmade in California Exie’s! It’s so beautifully made, as all of the ibis are, but this one just looks handmade, or handcrafted, you can read all about it on their website, the process as it were. Full Xt build and all the squishy bits from Fox . Made here folks, it’ll be at the shop until some lucky person takes it home.
Today was a good day. Our good friend Anne Savery came by to get her new Ripley. It was really fun to build knowing that Anne was getting to ride it soon. When I first started racing Anne was already an accomplished expert class racer. A very special thanks goes out to Tom Morgan and Aaron Kereleuk at Ibis for making this bike happen during these times, we can’t thank you guys enough 👍🏼
Thanks to Randi Jo and Eric and we’ll really the whole family of theirs for getting us a big order of their amazing bags!! They have us stoked and stocked up on all the bags they make! Some are even available in a complete matched set of traveling luggage, as seen here! Thanks again to them, so much work went in to making this order happen 👍🏼on their part.
Haven’t done this in awhile, but after staring at bike in the photo took of her in 88 in baja I thought I’d share Charlie’s personal Phoenix, for a Phoenix Phriday. Soo many cool features by charlie on this bike. Custom profiled shift ramps, mismatched cranks shaved for lowest Q factor possible, prototype lever link up front, low profile toggle cam out back. Fun bike for sure. Have a good one folks.
Almost a wrap folks. Thanks for 2021. The shop will be closed from the 24th through New Year’s Day. We will be back at it on Monday January 3rd. With the weather as nice as it’s been, We recommend going to look at this burr oak at platte river state park. Nate & Eric
