We are looking to add a Seasonal Tax Preparer for the upcoming tax filing season.

Responsibilities Include:
Prepare and possibly review individual income tax returns
Prepare and possibly review business income tax returns
Assist clients with tax planning and consulting engagements

Qualifications:
Must have minimum of 5 years recent tax preparation experience
CPA, or Enrolled Agent preferred but not required
Must have current training & understanding of recent tax laws
Excellent organizational & personal communication skills

Ron has over 15 years of experience working with income taxes, payroll, accounting, and business consulting. He is a former Revenue Agent with the IRS and is licensed to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Nebraska, as well as a Certified Fraud Examiner and member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

On May 31, 2023, the State of Nebraska enacted an elective pass-through entity tax (PTET). This includes possible retroactive elections tax elections which will be made available to us in the coming months by the Nebraska Dept of Revenue. The new legislation includes reduced individual & corporate income tax rates (subject to phase-outs).

Entities taxed as partnerships or S corporations (generally “pass-through entities”) can make an annual, irrevocable election to pay taxes at the entity level. Prior to this law change, individual owners would pay tax on their share of the pass-through entity’s income. This new PTET allows owners to bypass the IRS $10,000 deduction limit for state and local income taxes on their individual tax returns by making the PTET election (PTET payments are generally not limited to $10,000).

The election generally must be made by or before the due date (including extensions) of the pass-through entity’s tax return.

Pass-through entities can retroactively elect the Nebraska PTET for the tax years from 2018 to 2023. The retroactive elections must be made by December 31, 2025. Any individual income tax refunds resulting from a retroactive PTET can be claimed by the individual partners with yet-to-be-issued forms from the Nebraska Dept of Revenue.

We will be monitoring future updates from the Nebraska Dept of Revenue regarding the expected newly issued forms to be used for retroactive tax elections. Please let us know if you have any questions.
