Austin was a great mentor and friend to me. I will miss our talks, cherish the memories, and work hard to continue his work. He was the best.

U.S. Soccer mourns the loss of Austin Daniels, an inspirational and successful coach, a skilled educator, beloved mentor, and friend to many.

Daniels’ time spent as a college coach, club director, State Technical Director, U.S. Soccer Educator and U.S. Soccer Club Development Manager ensured that he left a profound impact on all levels of our game.

His resume includes serving as an assistant coach for the U-16 Women’s Youth National Team camp in January of 2018, a scout for the U-20 Women’s Youth National Team and an impressive five-year stint at the University of Colorado where he was tasked with launching the women's soccer program.

His contributions were honored with inductions into the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame, the University of Hartford HOF, the Connecticut Girls’ Soccer HOF, and the Women’s Premier Soccer League HOF. Daniels was recently inducted into the Black Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame in January.

Our thoughts are with Austin Daniels’ family and loved ones during this difficult time. We are grateful for his commitment of time and talent to further the sport of soccer in the United States, and we honor the legacy he leaves behind.
