Lombard District 44
Lombard District 44 is an award-winning Pre-K-8th Grade School District located in Lombard, IL.
Teachers working on their thematic units this summer!
Our very own, Jill Metzger (1st grade teacher at Pleasant Lane), was named “VFW Illinois Teacher of the Year!” She was also the Illinois nominee for the “VFW National Teacher of the Year” and we are SO PROUD. Jill believes teaching her students the importance of being a good citizen and having pride in your country.
Today is the last day for summer pop-ups! Come on over to Park View and check out tutoring opportunities for the summer.
The first Summer Pop Up is underway! Come and see our staff at Madison School to check out opportunities for tutoring, grab a hot dog, and take a jump in the bounce house. Can't make it today? No worries! They'll be at Hammerschmidt tomorrow.
Just because it's summer break, doesn't mean we have to take a break from learning! If you're interested in tutoring opportunities for incoming 3rd-8th grade, check out the flyer and use this link to RSVP.

We look forward to seeing you!
Have a great summer break! We'll miss you!
Butterfield has been up to some exciting things! They had an "eat lunch with your teacher" day and Principal Kate Ostrander got on the roof of the school! She promised that she would get up there if they met their fundraising goals for the gaga ball pit. The goal was met and Mrs. Ostrander made the climb!
Yesterday was tree planting day at D44! Together with the District 44 Foundation and the Morton Arboretum, students were able to help plant 12 trees across the district.
To all of the 8th graders and their families, CONGRATULATIONS. We are so proud and excited for you. Go do big things!
Manor Hill Student Council partnered with Project Fire Buddies for their April Community Cause. Through a coin challenge their generous donations raised over $1,000 to donate to Project Fire Buddies and the Scholastic Book Fair. Students were able to pie both firemen and teachers in the face at an all school assembly! Way to go Manor Hill Eagles!!
Mindful Mornings yoga club at Glenn Westlake has met before school on Wednesdays since the beginning of the school year. Yesterday was their last meeting and to celebrate, they arranged to do goat yoga!
4th graders across the district had an exciting day, yesterday! They all met at the Connect 44 Center for a "Break out to summer." They were split into groups and rotated through activities including martial arts, building egg drop devices, and completing break out boxes.
On Wednesday, the Pleasant Lane Golf Club took a field trip to Cantigny Youth Links. This club is funded by the Kids' Golf Foundation of Illinois. It was noted how impressed the chaperones were with the students' knowledge of the game including proper etiquette.
Last weekend was full of running for District 44! Butterfield school had their PTA sponsored Glow Run on Friday night. One of the things they plan to do with the money raised is purchase a gaga ball pit for the students.
Last weekend was the annual Madison/Hammerschmidt 5K and 1 mile race. There was a record breaking number of registrations (over 900 combined total from both races), beautiful weather, activities for the kids, and a band to keep everyone moving.
We are so thankful for our teachers. Lombard is lucky enough to have some of the best.
5th graders have been connecting as pen pals throughout this year across the district. Today they got the chance to meet at a districtwide 5th grade field trip to Lombard Commons. The students were put into groups with their pen pals and cycled through activity stations including frisbee golf, tennis, kickball, walk and talk, playground, and water activities. We hope that they made connections with students from other schools before they all head to Glenn Westlake in the fall.
Are you or someone you know looking for a job? We're hiring!

Congratulations to all of our athletes who competed on Sunday at the Special Olympics Region C Track and Field Event! Thank you to all of the volunteers that made the day a success for our students!
On Friday, the PTA put on a Family Fitness Fair at the Connect 44 Center. Over 30 vendors came to promote exercise, movement, and their local businesses. We even had a couple principals face off at the Falcons Football booth. It was a great way to kick off the weekend!
There's nothing better than some family fun! We hope to see you tonight at the Family Fitness Fair.
Manor Hill students had another PEP (Passion, Engagement, Potential) Squad yesterday. As usual, staff members offered a variety of courses for the students to participate in, but this was the first time that fishing was an option. A group of students braved the cold and learned the basics of fishing. It was quite the catch.
Glenn Westlake was bustling with business this morning! Today was career day and a variety of professionals came to present on their line of work as well as their background and education. The presenters were a combination of parents and community members that ranged from basketball coaches to stylists to attorneys to policemen. The sky is the limit!
Don't forget...
Park View Cycle Club is loving these sunny days! They meet Monday-Thursday after school during the fall and spring. They ride the Great Western Trail, the Prairie Path, and around their school grounds when the weather is questionable.
The STEAM Expo was EXPLOSIVE! The students, parents, and staff alike had a great time doing experiments, watching the Mad Science show, and building spaghetti towers.
Tonight is the night! You don't want to miss this.
Tis the season for assemblies! Today Pleasant Lane had an assembly called "Bats and other creatures" and it was amazing.
Mark your calendars for the STEAM Expo. It's one week from today and it will not disappoint. For more info and a promotional video, click here:
