On May 5, 1862 the Mexican army were victorious against the French army in Puebla, Mexico.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla. This historic date will always show the strength of the Mexican people and the lengths they went through to protect their country, their culture, and their families to prevent/resist colonization.
On this empowering day, try to support Mexican/Latinx owned businesses or restaurants or visit museums/cultural centers if you want to learn more about the Mexican/Latinx cultures and communities.
