Please enjoy our series of Cookie and the seahorse. Cookie was found as a stray by one of our technician’s and was neutered today. He’s negative for feline leukemia and FIV, and received his first set of vaccinations. He’s up for adoption! But must also adopt the seahorse with Cookie as they are a bonded pair now! 🤭

Paws-itively thrilled to introduce Nala and her ONE DAY old puppies! Nala was recently adopted from the shelter and her new owners had no idea she was pregnant. She suddenly gave birth on her afternoon walk yesterday! 😳

But she’s taking being a mother very seriously and it comes natural to her 👶🏼🍼

Happy 1 Year Anniversary to Southpaw! Some jackets for those that run this hospital and make it so amazing. We appreciate you! ❤️

⭐️Big news! ⭐️ Southpaw Vets is so excited to welcome Dr. Shim next month. We are feeling very lucky to have her on the team. She will start seeing patients on August 21st. You can use the online portal on our website to schedule an appointment.

Fun fact: Did you know all 3 vets at Southpaw are twins?! Dr. Braham has a twin brother and Drs. Chiang and Shim each have a twin sister.

New Pawsibilities Await! 🐾 We're thrilled to announce that starting August 26th, we're extending our hours to include Saturdays! 🎉

Double the cuteness, double the love! The Barajas sisters are welcome to be the new Southpaw mascots any time. 🥰

Millie the Shih Tzu is a new mom! She welcomed a single puppy yesterday. Can you spy her little bundle of joy? Swipe ⬅️

She’s a young mom who is overcoming hurdles. She came in today for muscle trembling, a common condition in postpartum dogs from eclampsia - low calcium.

Millie received a calcium infusion and will enjoy some tasty Tums at home. With puppy food to boost her energy and aid breastfeeding, we’re optimistic for her recovery.

Meet Gwen! She was diagnosed with Gingivostomatitis. It is a debilitating autoimmune disease that is specific to our felines. It causes severe and chronic inflammation of the gums and tissue that lines the oral cavity. Treatment is aggressive and typically involves extracting all of their teeth. Gwen was a trooper and had ALL 30 of her teeth removed. We wish her a speedy recovery!! Swipe ⬅️ to 👀🦷

We taught Yabo the Rottie puppy that donuts are just an excuse to eat cake for breakfast. 🍰🍩

Benny the Bassett had a case of the happy tail!

Happy tail is a condition where dogs cause damage to the tip of their tails from striking surfaces, usually when they’re wagging it!

This condition is anything but happy for dogs and pet parents. The tip of the dog’s tail becomes dried and cracked and starts bleeding because of the repetitive striking of the tail on surfaces. It can take a long time to heal and weekly follow up for bandage changes is important. Benny was very patient for his frequent bandage changes and his owners were amazing during this process. It took almost 7 weeks to heal!

The K9 tail saver harness made a big difference as well!

Hugs & Pugs! Frankie had a dental today. 🦷

Rosa’s favorite dog is a pug. We are so sad to let everyone know that Rosa is leaving us this week. She is moving to Oregon and we wish her the best with lots of future pugs in her life! 😘
