Are you as excited as I am for the Barbenheimer weekend?
I love going to the movies and there just haven't been enough good movies to get me to the theater lately. But this weekend we have two!!

I fully intend to see both Barbie and Oppenheimer. And yes, I will be eating popcorn at at least one of them.
I decided to go full Barbie mode with my workout this morning. I busted out my pink Valslides and pink B***y Band and focused on core and glutes.

Tomorrow, I will bring the heat with my black Valslides and black B***y Band as well as my heavier kettlebells.

Valslide reverse lunge is always a favorite but add a little reach forward and you will fire up the glutes even more!!The step is just there to have something to aim for. It could be anything. Sometimes I use my water bottle and then I have to get even lower.

Make sure your foot is in the middle of the Valslide. On the "s". I see so many people with it too far forward. Then it acts as a break, which is obviously not what you want.

I love the assisted Valslide reverse lunge! It allows you to practice going deeper/lower without the fear you will get stuck there.

Try this with a TRX or other strap, attached high. Put your foot in the middle of a Valslide and slide back into a reverse lunge, allowing the back knee to bend. Come up through the heel of the front foot. 10- 15 reps is good. Then switch legs.

Valslide Wipers

Try this fantastic core exercise using your Valslides. Put a Valslide under each foot and get in a high plank with core tight. Make sure shoulders are over your wrists. Many people start in the wrong position which makes this challenging exercise even harder (and not in a good way).

Without lefting your hips drop, slide one leg out to the side as far as you can control. Bring it back and then slide the other leg out and back. Continue to alternate until you've completed about 8-10 reps per side. Stop if you hips start to sag. Keep your head inline with your spine.

Valslide Valligators

Valligators are great for your core and also your shoulders. Start in a plank position with Valslides under your feet. Walk your hands forward while dragging your legs behind you. Don't let your hips sink. Go about 8-10 walks forward and then push backwards. Backwards is even harder!

The is a good exercise for your adductors of the sliding leg but I like it even more training glutes.

When done properly it works more like a hip hinge. It’s important to keep your weight over the stationary leg and your back flat as you reach the weight to the floor, inside the foot.

Keep the sliding leg straight as you slide it to the side while simultaneously sitting back with glutes of stationary leg.

The foot on the Valslide should be very light.

If you are just learning this move, start with no weight and something next to you like a chair for balance.

10-15 reps per side.

Valslide Alligator Crawl, AKA, Valligators!

This is a fantastic core and shoulder exercise. Much harder than it looks. Put your Valslideds under each foot and then "walk" forward with your hands, alllowing your legs to slide behind you. Then push back to starting position. This is even harder.

Try 10-20 reps per hand, each way.

I love using the to help me slide my way into sticky parts.

The 90/90 is particularly difficult for me but starting with some sliding reps helps me work my way in.

Home Circuit Training

I love this circuit I did today. I couldn't leave because I have some serious stuff happening with my senior dog Cody but I needed a workout. So I did something similar to this.

Valslide Curtsey lunge 15x
Valside Reverse lunge 20x

Do all one leg then switch

Bentover rows 15 x 8 lbs
Shoulder press 12 x 8 lbs
Biceps Curls 20 x 8 lbs
Kickbacks 15 x 8 lbs
Valslide Upside down snow angel 20
Valslide mini pike 15
3-4 x

I do this with very little rest. The weights are heavy enough but not so heavy that I can't keep moving. This is a clear my head kind of workout.

wipers. This exercise will light your core on 🔥🔥🔥
You should be able to hold a plank for at least 30 seconds before attempting this.

The goal is to keep your hips level. You can start with just sliding a few inches away or only have one foot on a and the other foot on the floor.

Practice makes permanent so practice correctly. Don’t try to jump steps.

Here’s a fun little circuit for your Labor Day weekend so you can get a quick workout and then get on with the fun!

▪️ side lunge 15-20 ea side
▪️Squat/touch 20
▪️plié jump squats 20
▪️side to side hops 20 ea way
▪️Valslide Mountain Climbers 20/30 ea leg

Do this circuit 3-4x with good form. Note your time.

See if you can finish more quickly with the same good form the next time.

I just got back from NYC.

I don't leave my workouts to chance, so of course I had my Valslides. The first day, I took advantage of the gym at the New York Marriott Marquis and had an awesome workout.

The second day, I didn't have as much time and just wanted to bang it out first thing, so I worked in my room with my Valslide and my Valband. The workout looked alot like the workout below. I did about 20 reps per exercise with the exception of the leg curls which I only do 10. I did the circuit 3x and felt great!

Then jumped in the shower, grab some coffee and was on my way!

Getting fit takes work. We are all pressed for time and have many things that need our attention. But a fit body should be a priority. Not just to look better, although that is lovely, but because your whole life works better when you are fit and healthy.

Yes, I do know it’s harder when you are over 40, or have injuries to work around or 1 or more little ones at home. Yes, it can be challenging when you work long hours and frustrating if you have a slow metabolism.
