Preliminary update from the Vice Chancellor: UCLA Fire department is in contact with LAFD and have indicated there is no current threat to the campus. UCLA is monitoring the situation carefully. Further communications should be coming soon. LAFD believes they will be able to stop the fire at the top of the ridge. 🚨🚨🚨
Statement regarding police brutality and violence against the Black community. We are deeply anguished by the events unfolding, and those of the past, within our country, but we are nonetheless committed to being part of the fight of eradicating inequities and systems of oppression. We call for UCPD and administration accountability to ensure the safety of Black students and those within our larger community. Link to statement: bit.ly/usacBLMstatement.

Earlier in April, UCLA received $35.9million in federal funding from the CARES Act to compensate for the financial insecurity of the university and its students caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our commissioner Millen serves as the USAC Representative on the CARES Distribution Committee, along with the GSA Representative Letty Trevino, Assistant Vice Chancellor Mick Deluca, and other UCLA Administrators. Together, Millen and Letty have actively participated in the decision making process to ensure that this funding goes directly back to students. Please read the press release created by Millen and Letty to keep students up to date on the progress of the CARES Act funding distribution: www.tinyurl.com/CARESfund. If you have any questions regarding this process, feel free to fill out this form: www.tinyurl.com/CARESinput. USAC and GSA will closely monitor responses and will work with administrators to develop an FAQ page. 💛

Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, the US Census Bureau is still working to collect your response! Why should you respond? Census results influence our communities in a variety of important ways from informing federal funding allocations to shaping political representation and guiding nonprofit services for the next ten years.

The CUB referendum will be on the USAC ballot in May for all undergraduate students to vote on. The CUB Referendum is a student-initiated partnership with ASUCLA that provides funds for a Black Resource Center in Ackerman Union, ensures the long-term operation of the Transfer Student Center, and enables additional programming support, financial aid, and spaces for students. ASUCLA supports student efforts to achieve these goals.
As promised, here are more candidates on the ballot who have taken the time to understand the referenda and taken a stance, as leaders should. Please check out their platforms! Thank you to all of them for their support and remember that voting starts May 4th on my.ucla

Please find this helpful resource guide brought to you by the Office of the Internal Vice President’s GROW Committee!
The USAC IVP GROW committee has compiled a list of COVID-19 resources (including volunteer opportunities) available for students on campus and off campus. The document will continue to be updated as time passes. It is our priority that students know that there are resources for them. Please share this with your fellow Bruins and stay safe! Bruin COVID-19 Guide: tinyurl.com/BruinCOVIDresources
You saw it here first! Here is the official budget breakdown for what the CUB Referendum would be spent on if passed:
The BLUE represents the required 25% all referendum are expected to give to financial aid. The RED represents both the payment of the rent cost of the Transfer Center and the Black Resource Center as well as the Black Resource Center’s $60,000 programming budget. The GREEN represents the money that would be allocated to the mentioned funds and earmarked to supported marginalized communities for programming. Lastly, the YELLOW would be utilized for the remodel and updating of current spaces in Ackerman and Kerchoff and the creation of an internal structure for a new 6 story student-run building off the loading dock of Ackerman to improve and provide space for marginalized communities. Ensuring transparency is our priority, and we hope this helps!!!

We strongly discourage anyone (including all students) from participating in Undie Run. As we continue to grapple with the COVID-19 global pandemic, it is important that we maintain a safe distance from others and not congregate with crowds. We all have a responsibility to protect ourselves, our families and our community. We appreciate your cooperation.

Make Every Voice Heard
The Undergraduate Students Association Council (USAC), is UCLA’s governing body representing over 32,000 students.
With fifteen elected members and offices, USAC is comprised of students who are dedicated to serving their fellow undergrads. Offices of USAC program many events throughout the school year, such as Bruin Bash, Off Campus Living Fair, the Enormous Activities Fair, and so much more. These endeavors are undergone for students’ benefit and to better improve their time at UCLA.
Using passion, a love for UCLA, and over 10 million dollars, USAC’s offices fight to make every voice on campus heard. Bridging divides between administration and students, programming events to inform and educate, and funding student organizations, the sky’s the limit for USAC and what it can do.
