The Department of Bioengineering at the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering invites highly qualified applications for tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level. The Department seeks candidates with a Ph.D. in Bioengineering or a closely related discipline at date of hire with an excellent track record of innovation, and exceptional potential to direct a world-class, highly collaborative research program in any area of bioengineering. In particular, the Department is interested in candidates focusing on immunoengineering, computational molecular design, and the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in biology and medicine.
The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) at UCLA is pleased to accept the BMES Outstanding Achievement award, which is the highest chapter award on offer. On Wednesday, June 5th, the UCLA chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) hosted the 2024 Technical Projects Symposium showcasing BMES’s student-led projects. The BMES Technical Projects Build Team, Cell Team, Design Team, and Research Team all serve to give students hands-on, team-based engineering experience through a year-long project. Check out our student organizations BGA and BMES latest outreach efforts! BGA partnered with BMES to give undergraduate and graduate students a career development opportunity with a behind-the-scenes tour at Edward Life Sciences’ Irvine headquarters. BGA also participated in the combined LA Maker Faire and City of STEM event and local school college fair to promote interest in STEM within the greater Los Angeles community.

On April 13th, the Samueli School of Engineering held the Discover Engineering event during the campus wide Bruin Day event for all students who have been admitted to UCLA as freshmen. This event allowed those attending to interact with our student clubs and organizations at the Court of Sciences and meet with current engineering undergraduates, faculty and staff.
On April 2nd, 2024, UCLA Graduate Division () hosted its annual GradSlam competition. This year, a Bioengineering graduate student, Soulaimane Bentaleb, was one of the finalists for the competition and won 2nd place overall! Congratulations to Soulaimane on this great achievement! Last week on December 1st, 2023, the BioE department hosted a Holiday Party at the Engineering VI First Floor Patio from 12-2pm! The festivities included a holiday lunch buffet, games, music, and raffle. Faculty and students had so much fun competing in games such as a Candy Cane relay race and Candy Cane ring toss! They also contributed to decorating the BE Christmas tree by adding notes of gratitude and wishes for the new year! 🎁🎄🎉
