🎈BWF MADE THE CUT and earned the "little" badge as TOP-RATED NON-PROFIT!

🎂 BWF is proud to celebrate the 16-year voyage, which began with the fierce struggle to bring to light illegal animal sales in the LA Fashion District (2008-2013). BWF rescued close to 20,000 rabbits in the City of LA, ranging from un-weaned baby bunnies from Santee Alley to adult bunnies from the over-inundated city and county shelters. In the past year alone, BWF took in over 1500 rabbits, including "Red," "Blue," and "Orange" alert rabbits from the six LA city shelters, and Southeast Area Animal Control Authority (SEAACA). BWF has also partnered with Pasadena Humane Society, Ramona Humane Society, Inland Valley Humane Society, Animal Services Center - City of Mission Viejo Animal Control, Orange County Animal Care, San Diego County, and many more. In 2023, BWF housed, provided medical care, promoted, found permanent and loving homes for more than 1500 spayed and neutered rabbits, and staged 60 adoption events and workshops.

💗 BWF is an ALL-Volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)3 animal welfare organization founded in 2008 in Los Angeles, California. Set up to promote (Shelter) Equity and Equality for Rabbits, BWF's mission is to combat animal cruelty, illegal animal sales, exploitation, and neglect of all animals through rescue efforts, public education, investigations, legislation, events, and media attention. In addition, BWF works to reduce rabbit overpopulation and establish rabbits as companion animals that deserve the same individual rights, level of care, and opportunity for longevity as cats and dogs that live as human companions. BWF manages a complex Foster & Adoption Program that requires constant strengthening and expansion to accommodate new rescues and provide intensive care, medication, supplies, and Spay/Neuter funds. BWF has 150 volunteers/fosters and rescues approximately 1,000-1500 abandoned and abused domestic rabbits annually.

📡 Regarding global social media outreach, BWF grew to be one of the world's largest rabbit rescues & leading education sources. With 400,000+ SM followers, BWF posts are shared by millions of bunny lovers worldwide.

🌹 BWF track record of effectiveness has led to meaningful victories for animals in city legislatures. BWF received recognition by The County of LA, The California State Assembly and The City of Santa Clarita. CBS featured BWF as one of the FIVE "Best Volunteer Opportunities for Animal Lovers in Los Angeles."

📺 BWF was featured multiple times in LA Times, Huffington Post, LA Business Journal, KABC, CBS, KTLA, FOX, and NBC Los Angeles & New York. BWF appeared on Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish TV Channels, Access Hollywood 🎥, and in multiple publications, i.e.. Los Angeles Daily News, The Press-Enterprise, Orange County Register, Long Beach Press-Telegram, Pasadena Star News, Whittier Daily News, Redland Daily Facts, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, San Bernardino Sun, and Torrance Daily Breeze. Santee Alley 🎞 Baby Bunnies *WON* the Genesis Award at the Humane Society of the United States and the Emmy Award at the 65th LA Area Emmy Awards. 📽

‼️ THUMPER – another LAAS bunny SCHEDULED TO BE KILLED by 4 pm on July 22, 2024, at West Valley Shelter; Orange-alerted due to a fight with his cage mate that resulted in, according to medical notes --- P***s/ a**s are heavily swollen and inflamed, ulcerated! (photos in the comments!)
📌BWF cannot pull Thumper from the shelter unless a foster comes forward and we get donations for his vet treatment. If you cannot help with either, please share this post in the hope that someone can!
📌So, the issue is that LAAS' policy to keep the bonded pairs together is a good one, except when it comes to unfixed males, which ALWAYS results in injury. The public shelter is not a place where unfixed males, albeit bonded, can thrive! We have scooped so many who were castrated, missing noses or lips, and who had abscesses all over their bodies. This policy needs to change, and PRONTO, too!

♦️ IN THE MEANTIME:
🐰Meet Thumper, an unaltered male about seven months old who weighs 4.76 lbs. He and his bonded brother Gomez were dumped by their "human" on 6/25/24 with a note: "NO TIME!". ☹ They both need out, and maybe someone with time, patience, and persistence can work on their bond. But, first thing first!!
💗We appeal to you again, and we thank you in advance for any help you can offer toward Thumper's rescue efforts and medical bills. THE MOST URGENT NEED is a RELIABLE FOSTER. If there's someone able to help, email us at [email protected].
♦️ HOW TO DONATE:
📍Will you please use the "Donate" button or visit bunnyworldfoundation.org/donate
📍On Venmo - search with ""
📍On PayPal - search with our email: [email protected]
📍Please make a direct donation to Northwood Animal Hospital toward our vet bills. They will happily process call-in contributions of $100 or more. Ph: 949-559-1992.
📍Finally, please consider donating monthly! No donation is too small. Bunnies need you!
💗Thank you so very much for caring. We hope you'll contribute to Thumper's case and share him wherever permitted.

💗 PEPPERCINI & MARSHMALLOW – THIRD IS A CHARM!
Back in April 2022, these sweet orphaned babies from the Mar Vista Hoarding Situation were impounded by Animal Control (LAAS) when they were just a few weeks old. There were six siblings. BWF rescued them in the hope that they would get adopted by the time the foster commitment ended. That was when we still sought temporary fosters. Alas, we learned our lesson and changed our protocols. The foster was an influencer who posted cute photos and videos on her social media, which gleaned a lot of attention and followers for her channel. However, NONE signed up, and the foster took them back to East Valley Shelter in August 2022. We begged animal control to hold on to them until we could secure another foster. It took a second, but we managed to find three good souls to take over.
🐰Eventually, the entire litter got adopted, and Peppercini & Marshmallow got a permanent (we thought!) home on January 29, 2023. Mission accomplished, we thought. ☹
🌺Alas, right after Easter 2024, we received an email from the adopter: "My daughter does not play or interact much with the bunnies. Since we adopted the bunnies, she has not really helped much with caring for them. I thought it would get better over time, but it has not. I would be OK with her not helping out as much with the care of the bunnies if she were really bonded with them or spent time with them. I have been talking with her and getting her used to the idea of giving up the bunnies to a household that would spend more time with and appreciate the bunnies as they deserve to be loved and cared for as any other pet. Recently, she told me that she would give up the bunnies if I gave her a phone. It was then I knew she didn't love the bunnies and viewed them as a possession, like her stuffed animals."
😌 So, we mobilized again. By now, we understood that it takes three and sometimes nine attempts to find a permanent home, and we stopped questioning the insanity. We went back to the grind.
🥰Luckily, these babies hit the jackpot the day they were brought back to BWF. Elsa and her Beau just fell in love with them and adopted them on the spot! We couldn't be happier, and we genuinely hope that this is their final final final home!
💗Thank you, and have a great Sunday!

😊🎉Ritchie's Freedom Ride!~~ We got him! He's on his way to the vet!
Reminder: Ritchie was on euthanasia list in East Valley Shelter due to maggots infestation in his mouth and re**um, in addition to overgrown upper & lower incisors, and matting on sacral caudal end. He was adopted in 2021 (healthy!) and returned back to the shelter three years later, almost dead. :( Anyway... this is a new beginning for Ritchie, thanks to your support and incredible BWF Volunteer Force! 💗
🙏 However, he needs a lovely, cozy foster home following release from the hospital. We're in L.A. and need a kind soul who's local or not too far and who can give this gorgeous boy a safe, peaceful spot in their home while we work hard for him. If you feel you can do that for him, please email us at [email protected] with the subject: "I WILL FOSTER RITCHIE!" Otherwise, he'll be stuck in the lonely hospital kennel. 🥲
💗We've been swamped with ongoing rescue challenges, but we wanted to assure you that we pulled Ritchie. He's a work in progress, and we'll have doctor's notes and invoices soon.
🌹If you'd like to continue to support our efforts for dear Ritchie, please visit bunnyworldfoundation.org/donate.

🐰 URGENT “JULES & TREVOR” REHOMING PLEA!
Back in May, we received a note from a family who adopted these sweet buns:
🥀“We adopted Jules and Trevor a few years ago. I am in desperate cry for help as I am stretched too thin and have not been mentally stable. I gave birth recently, and it’s been very overwhelming with a lack of sleep. My mother has been injured recently, and I must take care of her and my baby. My husband also recently got laid off and is now working part-time at a temporary job. We are financially strained, and as a first-time mom, I am extremely overwhelmed. I am not mentally healthy, and it’s just too much. We made the decision that we need to rehome our sweet bunnies, who deserve a family that can be there for them and spend quality time with them. I am crying nonstop at the idea that we can’t keep up with taking care of the bunnies along with our baby and my mom, along with expenses. Please help me with rehoming our babies. They deserve a family that is mentally healthy and can take care of them.”
🍀If you’re interested in adopting these babies, please email us at [email protected]. However, due to the urgency of this family plea, we will also take foster applications.
🍄BWF initially rescued Jules and Trevor from Los Angeles Animal Services in September 2021. They were adopted shortly after.

💔😔"Ritchie" (INFESTED WITH MAGGOTS CRAWLING FROM HIS MOUTH & RE**UM) was SCHEDULED TO BE KILLED TODAY at East Valley Shelter (LAAS), BUT we begged for an extension! We cannot help pull him out UNLESS a foster (experienced in special needs rabbits) comes forward and we get donations for his vet treatment. If you cannot help with either, please share this post in the hope that someone can help!
🐰🥀In the meantime, meet this terribly abused boy who was ADOPTED by a HORRID HUMAN BEING ON 11/17/2021 & brought back to the same shelter TODAY in an abhorrent condition. Some of the medical notes include:
📍 – not eating for 24 hours;
📍 – overgrown upper and lower incisors;
📍 – maggots coming from the mouth; inflamed re**um & pe**le area; re**um area with maggot eggs and small tiny maggots;
📍 - matting on sacral caudal end.
🌺We've rescued numerous medical buns in the last couple of months without fundraising. Now, with Ritchie potentially coming into our care, a surge of new vet bills threatens to prevent further medical rescuing unless our balance due is reduced (see comments). So, we appeal to you, and we thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
🕊Please find it in your heart to help us rescue Ritchie. The reason tells us to let go, but we cannot let this sweet soul die without at least trying. Will you please use the "Donate" button or visit bunnyworldfoundation.org/donate

🌺A GENTLE NUDGE TO THOSE PRIVILEGED OF BEING TRUSTED TO LOVE & CARE FOR A RESCUE RABBIT(RR)! 🐇
🥀When you ADOPT an RR, that rabbit doesn't just suddenly become "yours" alone, as if no one who ever rescued, nursed, or loved that rabbit EXISTED before you came along! There are human angels out there who rescue RRs from horrific conditions, who spend their time & money trying to help them, & who devote their whole lives to fighting their abuse & neglect. They are called "Rescuers!" Imagine how they feel when it's time to say goodbye & trust essentially a stranger with what has by then become a precious member of their family. They struggle to hand any rabbit over but adopt, they must, as much as it hurts them, so that they can help others waiting for their turn.
🌿 So, please do not treat your adopted RR as "property" without any regard for the pain, suffering, love, & tears that went into rescuing that precious life & presenting YOU with a beautiful, cleaned-up version of the mess encountered at first. Please show respect & keep in touch with those who saved your baby's life. It's NOT an obligation, but isn't that the right thing to do, letting the rescue know that their beloved bunny is still safe, loved, & flourishing? Such adopters inspire us to move the mountains again and again!
🥲 🍀Sometimes, during our educational journey, we reach the pinnacle when we feel that some adopters do not hear us anymore. We get worried that some of our bunnies will DIE without our mentors' guidance & resources, and that's the dilemma. For those of us who are also healers & empaths, it is our mission & our burden to realize that we saved those RRs once & that we cannot re-save ALL of them, but we can certainly be a bridge & a spark for those who are open to what we have to offer.
🐰 🎀So, if you have the bunny you adopted from the rescue, please remember that you are privileged to be trusted to love/care for an RR. You owe it to every single kind soul who rescued, sponsored, named, and loved that rabbit to DO THE RIGHT THING, ALWAYS stay in touch, and be open and honest.
🌹Thank you. Rant over. :) 🍄Now, if you have an RR, share their photo & story in the comment.

📌📌📌CARAMEL from South LA Shelter is only ONE of the hundred buns we've rescued during the last couple of months. Sorry, they haven't seen the light of social media yet, but… we've been BUSY doing a lot of "spring cleaning" and "rescue soul searching." We will slowly start posting their stories. Trust us, we haven't stopped… not for a single day! The adoption events in Altadena, Torrance, Los Feliz, and Hancock Park have been nothing but successful, with 8+ buns adopted almost every Sunday. Those who attend our adoption events know… those who attend our workshops know…. those who volunteer dozens of lifesaving transports a week know…and the fact that our Vet bill has climbed up to $30,000 indicates that we still take 50-60 rabbits to our vet Northwood Animal Hospital EACH MONTH. 💗Thank you for your support for the last 16 years, and we look forward to saving MANY more babies together in the days to come.

💗 NOW, BACK TO CARAMEL, who was BLUE (medical emergency!) ALERTED earlier this week and is looking for a FOSTER home and a sponsor. From the medical notes, we infer that he got injured by his cage mate. We still don't get the fact that LAAS ROUTINELY puts UN-NEUTERED MALES TOGETHER in the kennels where they castrate each other, bite their noses, and cause thousands of dollars in abscess treatments. They do it in ALL 6 city shelters and then beg their rescue partners for help. ☹

🖐 "GENTLE" REMINDER: We don't have a facility or paid staff, so there's nothing casual and temporary about fostering for our group. We are ALL volunteers, and fosters are our staff. We don't have a plan for if/after you default as a foster. You are Caramel's plan. So, if you're serious and integrity-ridden, please email us at [email protected], and we'll process your foster application.

📌 If you're unable to commit, please don't waste our time. We're so tired of those who flake, lie, and breach our agreements. What PART OF "FOSTER-BASED," "ALL-VOLUNTEER," and "NO-FACILITY" do they not understand? We are constantly amazed. So, if you're one of them, we are the wrong organization for you. CARAMEL is the wrong bunny for you to save… We ONLY want/need/embrace volunteers & fosters who RESPECT WRITTEN FOSTER AGREEMENTS and have INTEGRITY and UNDERSTANDING of how FOSTER-BASED rescues work. This means that there's NO BACKUP when we rescue buns from death row from public shelters such as SEAACA or LAAS. YOU, the FOSTER, are the plan, the backup, and EVERYTHING for that bunny.

💗 So, again, if you'd like to help this sweet boy, please email us!
If you cannot foster but would like to donate instead towards Caramel's medical boarding, hospitalization, and recovery, please visit bunnyworldfoundation.org/donate

Thank you kindly…and, as always, ONWARD! 💗

📌🌺PLEASE KEEP YOUR BUNNIES INDOORS ONLY!
We at BWF have almost 300 bunnies spread out from San Diego to Santa Barbara in our trusted foster homes. If you’d like to meet them, please email us at [email protected], and we’ll send you the application to fill out. Once you’re approved, you’ll be invited to our Adoption Event, where we bring over 100 bunnies for you to choose from. The events are currently taking place in Altadena, Hancock Park, Torrance, and Los Feliz. HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE:

📌🐰📌BWF bunnies would have to be strictly indoors only. Outside adds many risks, with virtually no benefits that can't be safely recreated indoors. Please look at this gorgeous setup at one of our foster homes. These babies are in heaven. 😊

🌻If you’re still confused, please CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:
👉 The first risk is Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease, a deadly virus that bunnies typically catch from wild bunnies. When domestic bunnies are taken outdoors, they become at risk for this severe disease.
👉 The second risk is parasites, both external and internal. Think fleas, ticks, mites, mosquito bites, ants, etc.
👉 When outside, bunnies can also come in contact with yard chemicals, w**d killers, and poisonous plants. Different types of yard grass have various dangers. Mold builds up on outdoor grass and can cause serious illness in bunnies.
👉 Hawks, coyotes, raccoons, and other outdoor predators can quickly kill bunnies in the blink of an eye. But even worse, some bunnies are so scared when they see them that they die of a heart attack!
👉 Bunnies also have very poor temperature regulation systems and are at risk for heatstroke at as low as 80 degrees. They can't tolerate sudden temperature fluctuations, like taking a bunny from high outdoor heat into a cooled indoor space, which can send them into shock.

😔🌿These are just a few. Hopefully, this all makes sense as to why we do not allow the bunnies under our care outside. Please reach out if you have any questions!

🙏😌Thank you very much for your interest in adopting the Bunny World Foundation bunnies to help us rescue MORE buns perishing in the city shelters! ❤

😨💥Random pyrotechnic explosions can be heard in LA as we approach the dreaded evening of July 4, when ALL HELL BREAKS loose.
🙏Please boycott the violence & don't set off fireworks! The bombs & blasts of sound & light cause immeasurable harm & death to countless domestic & wild animals.💣Fireworks are animal cruelty on a MASSIVE scale. They cannot be justified.
🖐Urban wildlife in LA is abundant, and birds (including geese & ducks), deer, squirrels, coyotes, rodents, aquatic life, opossums, raccoons & wild cottontails suffer cruelly due to fireworks. Mothers bolt/fly off in terror, abandoning babies & nests. Fireworks pollute the waters, poison fish & birds, and ignite devastating fires. BIRDS EVEN FALL DEAD RIGHT OUT OF THE SKY DUE TO FIREWORKS!
👉Keep your buns ALWAYS INDOORS WITH YOU! Keep all doors & windows closed. Even if your bunnies have never panicked before, there is always a first time. 😰Your bunnies may panic out of terror from the explosions, frequently escaping fencing and fatally injuring themselves in the process.
🖐‼️Vision-impaired/blind bunnies should NEVER be left alone during fireworks.
⚠️Bunnies' hearing is exponentially greater than humans'! The deafening bombs can cause them to panic, thump, or dart suddenly, causing injuries. The stress can lead to the deadly G.I. Stasis.
👉"Treat-testing" saves bunnies' lives! Offer your buns a tiny bit of their favorite fruit treat to ensure their well-being during the fireworks ordeal. If they refuse it, RUN to the vet!
👉Microchip your bunnies & confirm that microchips are registered accurately.
👉Play music at a sensible level to cushion sudden explosive noises. The TV or stereo left on will help distract them from the outside noise.
👉Provide your bunnies with extra hide-y boxes/tunnels. Place food/water in those hiding places to help them avoid G.I. Stasis.
👉Offer bunnies new chew toys/enrichment/healthy treats to keep them entertained. Pile their litter box high with fresh hay and serve a BIG salad.
👉Keep bunnies cool with fans/AC/gallon-sized frozen water bottles.
🥹 For true comfort, please give them extra doses of TLC, even if they seem fine.
💔Thank you for caring!
