July was designated as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.
Everyone deserves the inherent right to have access to mental health support, resources, and care. Still, not everyone has equal and equitable access to these crucial services because of stigma, shame, or fear of judgment. These factors create significant barriers that prevent individuals from seeking mental health care. We at NAMI GLAC break down these barriers with our new support groups:
Compartiendo Esperanza: Platica sobre el hogar y la familia este julio 2024 at Gateways Hospital

Thank you Britt and ISEC, Inc. for your corporate leadership. We recognize you as a NAMI GLAC StigmaFree Partner!
ISEC, Inc. with the leadership of Britt Plourde is making a difference in reducing stigma in the corporate workplace. They had a NAMI day at the office and encouraged employees to learn about mental health topics and resources available by creating a mental health trivia quiz with prizes and raffles provided as incentives.
Employees were encouraged to learn more about different types of mental health conditions and wear their NAMI t-shirts while volunteering out in the field.
You might have seen some of them at our NAMIWalk on Saturday, May 4th - they were the ones helping out at the Little Monsters Coloring Book table. Their team of volunteers used walk day to build camaraderie amongst their employees.
If you are interested in learning more about the Corporate StigmaFree program for your company, please reach out to Liz at [email protected].
You live your life your way, so why not fundraise your way?
We are thrilled to announce a brand-new customizable fundraising program that will power NAMI Greater Los Angeles Countyโs mission to provide free mental health support, education and advocacy in our community.
The new program is called NAMI Do-It-Your-Way and aims to help us raise unrestricted funds for our mission.
NAMI Do-It-Your-Way encourages mental health supporters like you to turn what they love into a fundraising campaign for NAMI.
Participants decide what they want to do โ a birthday fundraiser, an athletic event or a hobby like baking, crafting or knitting โ and design their own fundraising campaign on behalf of NAMI GLAC. Popular campaigns include streaming/gaming fundraisers, memorial tributes to honor loved ones and events such as dinner parties, golf outings or fashion shows.
The best part: 100% of the funds you raise stay local to support our community.
To learn more and join NAMI Do-It-Your-Way, visit our website https://doityourway.nami.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.event&eventID=1611 and select one of six campaign types. You will be directed to a page where you can enter details about your fundraiser, set a personal goal and create a custom fundraiser link. You will then have access to your own fundraising dashboard and a participant guidebook to help you with your campaign.
Whatโs fundraising your way look like? We canโt wait to see. Reach out with any questions. We are excited to support you on this Do-It-Your-Way journey!

Today's DIY inspiration is brought to you by Marvin Morales who recently hosted a DIY fundraising event for NAMI GLAC.
Marvin hosted a fundraiser at work and named it 5K Trail Run For All Brains. It was a great success for all who participated and raised dollars for NAMI GLAC so that we can continue to do the work we do in this community - provide FREE classes and programs to the thousands of people we serve.
Thank you Marvin and everyone who participated in the 5K Trail Run!

๐ Being an LGBTQ+ Ally: A Guide ๐
True allyship goes beyond words and rainbow flags. It's about active participation, ongoing learning, and unwavering support.
How to be an effective ally:
Listen: Hear the experiences and perspectives of LGBTQ+ individuals.
Learn: Educate yourself about LGBTQ+ history, issues, and challenges.
Speak up: Use your voice to challenge discrimination and advocate for equality.
Support: Patronize LGBTQ+-owned businesses and donate to organizations working for LGBTQ+ rights.
What allyship is NOT:
Speaking over or for LGBTQ+ individuals.
Performing allyship solely for recognition or social validation.
Remaining silent when witnessing injustice.
Remember, allyship is a continuous journey of learning and growth. Let's create a more inclusive world together! ๐ค
