Download the ShakeAlertLA app today to receive earthquake early warnings!

Since launching ShakeAlertLA, we’ve been listening to your feedback and making improvements. As a direct result, we have now lowered the alert threshold for the app from magnitude 5.0 earthquakes to quakes of 4.5 or larger. The app gives you an early warning so you can take action to protect yourself in the critical seconds before shaking starts.

The simple act of shutting a door can stop a fire from spreading.
Do you sleep with your door shut?
Does your child?
If you're running out of a room due to fire, shutting the door as you exit (if you can safely do so) can help prevent the fire from quickly spreading.

The burnt room, not survivable.
The room behind the closed door...survivable.
That's the difference
