Dine to Donate is back!!!! Support our special school by supporting locally owned Mixto Restaurant and mention you are Friends of Atwater Elementary so they can contribute a portion of your bill to all the wonderful things happening on campus.

Knowing who is on our school board is SO important, especially when we need help (like norm day madness). Our current school board member Jackie Goldberg is stepping down this year after a decade of great service. Come meet Karla Griego, a candidate that is running to replace her, THIS Friday in Atwater.

What a community!! You have brought in 50 bags in 2 days, we are so thankful for the support! 🛍️
We need 272 more so each kid gets a bag to take home their books. 📚 Bags can be of ANY material. Thanks for your help in ensuring an earth friendly event!! 🌏❤️

Great News: we have collected 12 bags for books! Only 318 to go!
These bags will be given to kids to bring home their books from Lori’s Stories on June 4th. Our goal is to model to our kids to reduce, reuse and recycle. Please check your closets and trunks and drop your bags at the front gate during drop off or pick-up. Thanks!

🎉 What an amazing night at Atwater Ave Elementary! Thank you for an enchanting and entertaining night. A heartfelt thank you to all the families who joined us for a magical evening. Your support at the concession stand and through generous donations for the school's art program and innovation lab is truly appreciated. A special shoutout to The Local for providing the Popcorn Machine! This fantastic Family Magic Show was made possible by CAP (Cultural Arts Passport) funds. Kudos to Ms. Davalos and the FoAE CAP Fund Committee for their dedication and hard work in planning and organizing such enriching experiences for our students.

We are continuing to rally for our kids to stop the budget cuts that will impact our school next year. There is a rally downtown tomorrow if you can make it.

I (Lori) got the following from Fox's dad, Bill, today; how great is our community:
I’ll be going to the "Stop the Carvalho Cuts” rally in DTLA tomorrow afternoon. Not only as a concerned parent with a child in the LAUSD, but in solidarity with fellow union members. Both UTLA and SEIU showed up for writers at WGA picket lines and rallies last summer, and I’m proud to be able to show up for them when they need it. I’ll be there in the WGA group!

Kick off the month of May at Mi Corazon for a special Dine To Donate with your Friends of Atwater Elementary! Plan it now for May 1st and be sure to mention FoAE as a portion of sales goes to all the special projects happening at our school!

Mi Corazón will be opening the doors early just for Friends of Atwater so come right after school to enjoy a post school bite and drink

If anyone is doing some spring cleaning, SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition (who FOAE partnered with when we did the Hoodie and Hats donations) is collecting the following at the Atwater Farmers Market this Sunday:

*Sweats (L, XL)
*T Shirts (adult)
*new underwear (adult)

Get your Atwater Elementary shirts on and come celebrate Earth Month with us this Sunday and help clean up the neighborhood! Meet us at Dunkin at 9am and head over to the Madera Block Party after as a fun reward! We will have a booth there so please come visit!

We have had a few date updates to March! Música Y Merienda is now next Tuesday, the first day of Spring! The Caregiver Breakfast will be after the break now and remember to fill out the School Experience Survey. Link is on Dojo and in your email from FoAE. :)
