Our mission is to develop, in every child, a sound mind in a sound body, governed by a compassionate heart.
This week, we celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as Chuseok in Korea, and the Moon Festival in other parts of Asia. Families gather to give thanks for the harvest, share delicious food, and admire the beauty of the full moon.
During our monthly Cultural Celebrations, families and students enjoyed crafting faux mooncakes with Play-Doh and sampling treats like rice cakes. A big thank you to all the amazing Curtis families for sharing their traditions and knowledge with our community!

We were so fortunate to host for an author visit today, where he shared his inspiring journey as a writer with our 5th Grade students. His latest book, Sherlock Society, is already #2 on the NYT Best Seller list, and it’s no surprise why. His passion and creativity left our young readers in awe!
And they’re off! The Class of 2025 hit the road this morning for three unforgettable days of adventure! This marks the beginning of their journey with Curtis’s Outdoor Education program—a milestone for our 6th Graders.
We can’t wait to see our Cougars step out of their comfort zones, tackle new challenges, and build lifelong friendships. This trip is just the start of the memories they’ll make together! Let the adventure begin!
Last week, our DK and Kindergarten students had the opportunity to tour the school where they met more of our Staff and Faculty as well as explore different parts of the school!

This Father's Day, we remember former Curtis parent Jerry West (here celebrating fatherhood with Coach Albert and Jeff's son Michael) as a loving dad and a great man whose positive influence on youth in sports is still felt today. He was a strong supporter of Curtis School, and we remember him with deep affection. We offer our heartfelt sympathy to his family and many friends.
We are excited to celebrate Raylene Mayer for her exceptional 25 years of service! As Raylene leaves Curtis this year, we recognize the profound impact her dedication and commitment have had on the Curtis community. She will be greatly missed. Thank you, Raylene, for everything you have done for the community and athletic department!
We already miss seeing our Cougars on campus! Shoutout to all the amazing volunteers who helped us celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month with our community last week! Students wrote affirmations on colorful Post-Its, celebrating the unique qualities of themselves and their families spreading love and pride. It's always a joy to bring our community together to learn about and celebrate the diversity that makes us who we are. Thank you for making this celebration so special!

Superstars Day is one of the most anticipated events of the year! Our students spent the afternoon in friendly competition across various sports, games, and activities. They participated in events of their choice, earning points for their team colors. The day wrapped up with an exciting all-school tug of war and refreshing popsicles! Go Red, White, and Blue!
A big thank you to our amazing volunteers who helped us celebrate Armenian Independence Day, Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and Jewish American Heritage Month! From experiencing Shabbat and writing names in the Armenian alphabet to showcasing cultural instruments, our campus was filled with joy and love. Bringing our community together to learn about and share our diverse experiences is what it’s all about. Thanks for a fantastic year of cultural celebrations!
Our 4th-6th Grade families came together to celebrate our amazing student athletes for their engagement, effort, and achievements this sports season. Thank you to alums Reese K. '18 and Ethan P. '18 for speaking to our Cougars about the impact team sports have had in their lives. From swimming and basketball to soccer and volleyball, our Cougars have shown incredible dedication, sportsmanship, and teamwork both on and off the field. Huge thanks to our coaches, parents, and everyone who supported our athletes throughout the year. Go Cougars!
