Want to sport the hottest fashion of the summer just like Tomothy? You can! Thanks to our friends at the Van Nuys library we have a last minute supply of Summer With The Library totebags. They are available on a first come first served basis, are very limited, and we cannot hold them.
A friendly reminder that the library will be closed tomorrow, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. We will reopen on Friday, July 5, at our regular hours.
Crank the Club Classics as loud as you want, for free, with your LAPL card and Hoopla. We’re still waiting on, “the girl, so confusing version with dewey decimal system” to come out though.
How fun was our Studio City Comics Day Celebration?! We had so many great programs: Superhero Storytime, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie screening, Superhero Mask Making, Craft Stations, and a wonderful panel on working in Comics and Animation. A special thank you to our Studio City Friends Of The Library group for helping make programs like these possible. Join us Monday (June 24) at 2 PM in welcoming Michael Martinez, founder of LA Compost, a nonprofit organization providing compost access and education, as he reads from his new book Composting for Community. Those attending the program will have the opportunity to take home a copy of Composting for Community. This free program is intended for children ages 5 and up.
A friendly reminder that the Library will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. We will reopen on Thursday, June 20, at our regular hours.

Join us Monday, June 17, from 10:30 - 5:30 for Comics Day! This day-long celebration of comics, graphic novels, and animation is for all ages. Programs include a superhero storytime (costumes encouraged), a matinee showing of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (rated PG), comics-themed crafts and activities, and a panel discussion with professionals in the animation industry. All programs are free and no prior registration is required.
Join us Monday, June 10, as early childhood reporters Jenny Gold & Kate Sequeira from the L.A. Times lead a discussion on navigating child care & early education programs. What is the difference between preschool and transitional kindergarten? Are there other options? How can parents and caregivers make the best early education decisions for their children? Join us for this free informative discussion!

A friendly reminder that the library will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day. We will reopen at our normal hours on Tuesday, May 28.
Join us Thursday, May 30, at 4 PM to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with a performance by the Soorya Foundation! The group will perform classical South Indian dances, also called temple dances. This 2,000-year-old art form showcases stories based on Hindu epics, love, and justice. All ages are welcome.

Celebrate Women's History Month by learning about water protectors! Join us March 19 at 4 PM, for a program centered around We Are Water Protectors, written by Carole Lindstrom. Illustrator Michaela Goade won the Caldecott Medal for this book in 2021, making her the first Indigenous person to win the award. We will continue to learn about water protection with a hands-on science experiment. This program is intended for children ages five and older.
Families are invited to celebrate National Literacy Month! Join us March 18 to learn about our Conversation & ESL Classes, and One-on-One Walk-in Tutoring Services for Adults. Enjoy a storytime with your family, participating families will receive books to take home and share joyful reading experiences with their children.
Join us this Monday, February 12, at 3 PM to celebrate Lunar New Year. Author Oliver Chin will read from his book The Year of the Dragon, talk about the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac, and teach you how to draw a dragon. Enjoy activity sheets based on the zodiac animals. This program is intended for children ages four and older.
Join us Tuesday (February 6) as we celebrate Black History Month by learning about Mae Jemison, the first Black woman in space! We'll read Mae Among the Stars by Roda Ahmed, learn about Mae Jemison's career, and do a space-themed activity. This program is intended for children ages five and older.
Have you read the new picture book, To Dogs, With Love written by Maria Gianferrari and illustrated by Ishaa Lobo. Described as a tribute to helper dogs, especially service dogs. Who better to show off this great and heartwarming read than our BARK volunteer, Vida!

Join us on Wednesday, 1/24 at 4 P.M. for a free family concert! Pop duo Again Again will bring a show full of music, movement, and audience interaction—just for kids! This program is recommended for children ages 0-7 and their families, and no RSVP is required.

We're excited to announce we're one month away from the first of five staged readings of Pulitzer Prize winning plays presented by Interact Theatre Company with support from LA Made and Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. These staged readings will take place on the second Saturday of the month between January and May at 2 p.m. No RSVP required but seating is limited so please arrive promptly.
