AFI DWW+
Since the program’s inception in 1974, DWW+ has trained over 350 filmmakers.
AFI DWW+ educates traditionally underrepresented narrative filmmakers through the production cycle of a short film, providing hands-on instruction led by industry experts. DWW Alumni include Maya Angelou, Anne Bancroft (FATSO), Neema Barnette (QUEEN SUGAR), Shaz Bennett (BILLIONS), Pippa Bianco (SHARE), Tessa Blake (AMERICAN HORROR STORY), Tricia Brock (BRIDGERTON), Ellen Burstyn, Rebecca Cammisa
Congrats, And Congrats, And Congrats to + Alum and Oscar winner Siân Heder - thrilled that she’ll be taking the helm of Paramount Pictures’ highly anticipated adaptation of the best-selling novel Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow. 👏👏👏
As AFI marks the 50th Anniversary of the Directing Workshop for Women, we mourn the passing of the program's founding Director Jan Haag. Jan recognized the need to give women a seat in the directing chair and her visionary spirit lives on in this trailblazing program today. She left an indelible mark on the over 350 filmmakers who have participated in the program and her legacy is having launched one of the first gender impact programs of its kind in the cinematic arts. Rest in peace, Jan.🕊️
