LA PRÓXIMA SEMANA, más de 150 líderes de la comunidad inmigrante regresan a las calles de Washington, DC para luchar por la solución que ofrecería un camino a la ciudadanía para MILLONES. 🥁 Luchamos por los proyectos de ley HR1511 & S2606 porque cambiarían la vida de 8 millones de personas en nuestra comunidad. ✊🏽

¡Esta semana, miembros de CHIRLA estuvieron alzando sus voces en Sacramento para apoyar a tres proyectos de ley en CA que crearían un estado más inclusivo para los inmigrantes!

✅AB2780 (Assemblymember Tina McKinnor) ha sido aprobado por el Comité Judicial del Senado! Este proyecto requeriría que las compañías de autobuses proporcionen un aviso de 24 horas si transportan a 10 personas o más que necesitan servicios de emergencia.

✅AB1840 (Dr. Joaquin Arambula) ha sido aprobado por el Comité Judicial del Senado! Este proyecto de ley permitiría a los californianos acceder al programa “Sueño de California para Todos” para permitirles comprar su primera casa, INDEPENDIENTEMENTE de su estatus migratorio.

✅AB2586 (David Alvarez) es aprobada por el Comité de Educación del Senado! Este proyecto haría posible que los estudiantes indocumentados en universidades y colegios públicos de CA sean contratados para trabajos.


¡Estas victorias son posibles gracias a los miembros de nuestra comunidad! La lucha sigue. ✊🏽🦋

UNDOCUMENTED STUDENT POWER! 🥳🦋 Today, the “Opp4All” bill (AB2586) was heard in the CA Senate Judiciary Committee! 🎉 This bill would allow undocu students to work at their CA colleges and universities! 📚

CHIRLA was proud to join the Opp4All coalition to share our testimonies and visit the offices of CA Senators to urge them to support undocumented students. The fight continues! ✊🏽

UPDATE: AB 2586 has passed the Senate Judiciary Committee! with a 9-2 final vote! We're ready to continue advocating for the right to equal employment for undocumented students!

Desde Tapachula, México hasta Los Ángeles, Estados Unidos, CHIRLA estuvo presente para celebrar a las comunidades de refugiados y compartir recursos. ✊🏽¡Continuaremos trabajando con nuestros funcionarios electos y organizaciones comunitarias para garantizar que todos los refugiados sean tratados con el respeto y la dignidad que merecen! 🫂🦋🧡

“I love this country, and it is my home, but we need a change in our immigration system. My family and I have been here for over 30 years. We have been living in constant fear of separation for 30 years. I am the oldest of my sisters have a mixed-status family: my two sisters are citizens, and my parents are undocumented. I migrated to Pomona, CA when I was 6 years old from Aguas Calientes, Mexico with my family. We could barely afford living in Mexico, so we left everything behind in hope of a better future.



I was able to attend L.A. Harbor College in 2004 under AB540 and graduate with my Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts in 2009. I'm currently at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, working towards my Bachelor's degree, and I hope to get a Master's in Business.

I’m proud to say I’m a homeowner, as this is a dream many immigrants hope to achieve when they first arrive in the U.S. I am incredibly grateful to have a work permit and have been one of the first DACA recipients.



My dream is for my parents and family members who are fully undocumented to have permanent protections. It would mean the world for them to feel safe and be able to travel to see their aging family members back home. As a DACA recipient, I’m constantly hurting mentally and emotionally due to the constant attacks and uncertainty. I've had DACA for 12 years now.
