MAPP’s annual Internship Reception was held at the Amy King Dundon-Berchtold University Club of USC yesterday. MAPP students and their internship employers got together for an evening of conversation and networking.
We thanked and honored the professionals who offered to mentor students through internships in their companies. It was great to see so many MAPP alums there as sponsors and supporters of career development for our students.
Some of the companies where students interned are Hypothesis Group, NRG, LRW, The Honest Company, Thoughtium, RED SKY Consulting, SEGA, Xsolla, Immersion, Center for Nonprofit Management, Breakthrough Research, and SeeChange Initiative.
Meet Alana Gelesic, a current student in the MAPP On-Campus cohort. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 2021 with a B.A. in Psychology, minoring in Spanish.
Alana is a management consulting intern at Thoughtium. In her role, she supports the team through executing projects and assists with client work that pushes the mission and vision of Thoughtium by connecting their offerings and capabilities with psychological applications that she has gained from MAPP.

Wynnie Chen is a current student in the MAPP On-Campus cohort. She graduated from UC San Diego in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
Wynnie is currently working as a research analyst intern at Interpret, a gaming-focused market research agency. Her main responsibility is to provide support on both qualitative and quantitative projects with tasks like link checking for surveys, quote pulling, and report pulling and checking. She also helps with running focus groups and doing desktop research.

Meet Julie Mei 🌱, a current student in the MAPP On-Campus cohort. She graduated from University of California, Santa Cruz in 2020 with a B.A in Psychology minoring in Education.
Julie recently started an internship with Xsolla as a Human Resources Intern. As the HR intern, she has had the opportunity to work on projects on Learning and Development initiatives.

Three students in MAPP’s on-campus cohort are currently participating in a consulting project under the direction of Dr. Jorge Barraza, PhD.
Students are exploring the needs and expectations of the market of a B2B Software company and working on their core solutions. In order to do so, the team is conducting in-depth interviews to understand existing clients, and conducting a large nationwide survey to tap into the key target market.
The students participating in the project are Emma Josey, Todd Creekmore, and Dona Trinity Leonard.

Meet our new Admissions Counselor, Desiree Mendez!
A Los Angeles native and first-generation college graduate, Desiree has an M.Ed. in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs from the University of Southern California and a B.A. Family and Consumer Science from San Francisco State University.
After earning her B.A., Desiree served as a college advisor with the USC College Advising Corps, assisting first-generation and underrepresented high school seniors with college applications and financial aid. Desiree is excited to join MAPP and hopes to be an additional resource for students interested in the program!

MAPP faculty Dr. Francesca Puggelli recently published her book 'Emozioni al Lavoro.' It is a book that investigates how to communicate and control one's emotions, with specific attention to the complex work situation, with critical insights, questionnaires, and tests to improve one's attitude.

Meet Dr. Sara M. Isaac, PhD (She/Her), a new addition to MAPP’s faculty. She holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy in Social Research Methodology and Education from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Sara has a vast range of experience in both the private and public sectors. She utilizes her experience in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods to conduct research for clients such as Kia America, Toyota Motor Corporation, Viacom, Visa, Anheuser-Busch, Calvin Klein, and CNN. As a Research operations leader in product innovation, brand strategy, trend forecasting, and design, she has continually partnered with industry-leading clients such as The Walt Disney Company, AB InBev, and YouTube.
Meet Phinehas Negash, a current student in the MAPP On-Campus cohort. He earned a BA in Psychology with a Minor in Business from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2020.

A new addition to MAPP's faculty, Dr. Jenna Rubenstein, holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Brandeis University and a master's and Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the Claremont Graduate University. She teaches PSYC 517, Group Dynamics and Leadership in MAPP.
Jenna joined Boston Scientific in 2008 and has served in multiple roles across Human Resources since that time. Before joining Boston Scientific, Jenna held positions of increasing responsibility at Amgen, Inc., and Washington Mutual.

Meet a new member of our faculty, Dr. Kathleen Marker, a sociologist and expert in qualitative methodologies. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of California.
Kathleen has nearly 20 years of experience working as a qualitative moderator conducting focus groups, IDIs, ethnographies, and online qualitative discussion boards. She has expertise in a range of industries including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, wellness, CPG, retail, media, technology, entertainment, and financial services.
