Reminder, MAPS Academy is back with a fresh start for spring quarter at the Islamic Center of Hawthorne. All middle school, high school, and community college students are invited every Wednesday from 3:00 - 4:00 PM for tutoring, peer advising, and workshops!

With the college application deadlines quickly approaching, we understand how overwhelming the process can be. That is why MAPS is proud to offer College Apps Drop-In Office Hours! This opportunity is not limited to MAPS service recipients, but open to all prospective college applicants. Students may attend on a drop-in basis to ask for feedback on college essays, peer advising, financial aid, and more! Born from student activism, Mentors for Academic and Peer Support (MAPS) is a UCLA student led project that is dedicated to improving youth education at Jordan High School in Watts, ISLAH Academy in Hyde Park, and the Islamic Center of Hawthorne.Through an informed lens, MAPS volunteers provide peer advising and tutoring services as well as open discussion and field trips, equipping students with the proper resources to achieve graduation and pursue higher education. The project's ultimate goal is to develop critical and transformative community thinkers at the high school and college level.
