It was such a joy to offer a Coalition for At-Risk Restoring Youth (CARRY) program to students from the LA Value Schools recently!
For almost 15 years, CARRY has offered students from the Value School free dermatological care and classes on table etiquette, which provides training for students as they think about college, job interviews, and work life. This gives students the confidence they need to thrive in any environment and we’re pleased to offer this to our young people to help them succeed!
Supporting my patients with vitiligo has always been my great passion! I'm honored to be a part of Incyte's educational campaign to help raise public awareness of the often devastating effects of vitiligo and spread knowledge about effective and exciting new treatment options available for individuals with vitiligo.

Thrilled to recently celebrate the beautiful wedding of this wonderful couple-I’ve had the joy of mentoring Onyeka Obioha since high school! 💝
Today is World Vitiligo Day, and we wholeheartedly celebrate with the global vitiligo community!
We were thrilled to present our CARRY Etiquette class in person at the downtown LA Central City Value Schools this past week--the first in-person event in more than two years due to COVID restrictions!
Thirty students enjoyed this special experience, and they were given lessons to last a lifetime!
It was a fun and enriching program... and SO good to connect live and in person with these CARRY youth.
Thanks everybody for all the wonderful birthday wishes. I feel so blessed and appreciative to enjoy this magnificent day.
Wishing everyone a joyous Easter weekend.

My dear and cherished friend, Dr. Diane Berson, is an extraordinary individual who has done so much for so many. With tremendous warmth and caring, she enriches the lives of all who know and love her--as a dermatologist, a leader in our specialty, a wonderful friend and a truly special human being. It is a joy knowing that she will be deserved honored and celebrated at the upcoming Women's Dermatologic Society Legacy Event!
I was deeply honored to have presented the 3rd Annual Vic Narurkar, MD Innovation in Aesthetics Lecture at the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) Annual Meeting recently. This honorary lecture is in memory of a true genius, pioneer, prodigy, dermatology legend, and a special friend, whose untimely passing was indeed devastating for our specialty and to those who knew and loved him.
At this time of Thanksgiving, I am thankful to have known such a wonderful human being and physician, and so appreciative to have had such a meaningful opportunity to honor Vic Narurkar’s legacy by speaking about him, and my work in advancing Innovation in Aesthetics.

One of my great passions in my dermatology practice is helping patients who are experiencing hair loss, by performing interventions such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments combined with other therapies that work together synergistically to promote hair regrowth.
It takes careful analysis of the root cause of the problem, patience and careful steps along the way to achieve the desired results.
Here is a recent patient case, with before and after images illustrating progressive results achieved over a six month period.
As we go into Hair Loss Awareness Month in August, watch for more!
One of the many benefits of being fully vaccinated is to be able to spend quality time in person with one another! Here I am with my dear friend, colleague and mentee, Dr. Nada Elbuluk. So delighted to have shared a wonderful brunch with Nada and her beautiful family recently!
It was a great honor and a joy to present a special Self-Care Workshop for the women of the Jenesse Center through the Women's Dermatologic Society's Women's Shelter Initiative this past weekend. We've been there many times over the past few years offering educational and empowerment programs for the Center's women. Although the pandemic disrupted our events for some time, now we are back! This event was a great success with excellent participation from 30 guests who asked many questions. My program focused on educating about self-care and skin care during the pandemic, including Vitamin D supplementation, nutrition and daily skincare regimens. It is so fulfilling to serve in our community through this program!

Join in the conversation at 3 pm Eastern, and ask your questions!

The Pathogenesis and Treatment of Melasma" with my esteemed colleagues and friends Drs. Seemal R. Desai, Nada Elbuluk, Maria Ivonne Arellano Mendoza, and Rashmi Sarkar. Whether it's in my dermatology practice or in a lecture, panel or university setting, melasma remains one of my clinical and scientific passions!
2021 Oscars Night Greetings! I am so very proud of my nephew, Charles King and his wife Stacey Walker King, of MACRO, whose amazing film that they produced, "Judas and the Black Messiah" is up for multiple Academy Awards, deservedly so! Huge congratulations! We are shown here together at the 2018 Oscars and today, I’m looking forward with tremendous excitement!
Reflecting back on Oscars past (see photos from last year at the Oscars with my daughter Ashley)—oh, if we could only turn back time to the world as it was then. So much has happened in this year that has changed our world, forever. But we must move forward... and the show must go on!
This thought-provoking painting adorns the walls of my waiting room in my dermatology practice. Everyday this powerful image inspires and uplifts me, and I hope it does the same for you. I wrote this poem inspired by this beautiful piece!
BEAUTY, GRACE , AND STEPPING HIGH:
The Past , The Present and The Future
Sometimes Invisible
Strong and Stepping High
Sometimes devalued
Resilient and Stepping High
Sometimes maligned
I pivot, with grace
And dignity
Stepping High with Stride
Moving Forward
