Almost two years ago to the day approached me (AHTC Artistic Director ) in the lobby of the Bourbon Room after a show he was in about a new project he was working on. At the time I didn’t really know James and I didn’t really have much interest in developing original work. But he was very enthusiastic and insistent so I politely let him give me his pitch and I gave him my info for him to send me some materials.

A couple days later I figured I should at least listen to one or two of the demos he sent before politely sending him a rejection email. But a few bars into the first tune I was absolutely hooked. And then I kept listening to the tracks. Over and over and over. Some were just crude guitar demos recorded as voice memos. It didn’t matter. I felt like the guy in Yesterday - I was one of the only people in the world to know these obviously famous tunes.

And now, two years later, we have a whole team of my favorite theater makers in LA as addicted to this project as I am! It is incredibly special and deeply personal and I’m honored James trusted us to help steward its development. Trust me when I say there is absolutely nothing like Jimi Darkness.

The good news is you don’t have to! On Tuesday 9/12 at 8PM we’re doing our second public workshop at the Bourbon Room where you can catch a preview of this work yourself and help us make it even better!

Ticket link is in our bio. I hope to see y’all there and have you join us on this journey!
