8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8

The principle for Joshua with the Law of Moses is the same for us today but we have the whole Bible and our focus is primarily the New Testament or New Covenant.

If we talk about it (shall not depart from your mouth, meditate onit and observe (obey) the Word of God, the our way will be prosperous and we will have good success.

Do you expect prosperity and success in your life?
1) How is your conversations? Are they primarily about the LORD and the Word, or do you talk about everything except the Word.
2) Do you meditate on the Word? Do you read it on a daily basis? I have found that my life does not flow very smoothly when I ignore the Word.
3) Do you seek to observe (obey) what the Word teaches.

In Matthew 28, Jesus told the apostles to:
1) Make disciples (see below)
2) Baptize them
3) Teach the disciple to observe (obey) what Jesus taught

What is a disciple?
1) A learner - Involves learning the Word
2) A follower - we cannot follow what we do not know. If we do not know what the Word commands, we cannot know what we are to follow.
3) A devoted lover of God. As we learn His ways and seek to follow His ways, we will find our love and devotion for our Papa will grow and our love and devotion to Jesus and Holy Spirit will grow.

Then He will make our way prosperous and we will have good success.

Grace and peace be with you all through Jesus our LORD and KING.

Hi everyone,

A CELEBRATION OF DISCIPLESHIP has its own page on the churches website (c3power.org). The link is https://www.c3power.org/celebration-of-discipleship.html #/. It is blank page, but I will be updating it soon. Along with notes and videos from the class, I will also be linking to the book studies we have completed or are currently studying. That will include Matthew, Galatians, Titus, and 1 & 2 Peter. Many of the completed videos on Romans are also uploaded.

Come over to visit regularly as I will be working to get it updated.

I woke up today with the hymn 'I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene and wonder how He could love me, a sinner condemned unclean. Refrain: 'Oh how wonderful, Oh how marvelous, and my song will ever be, Oh how wonderful, Oh have marvelous is my Saviour's love for me.'. I love this old hymn. But I thought today that it only applies to a lost person. If I am in Christ, I am no longer a sinner condemned unclean. I have/am the righteousness of Christ in faith due to He work on the cross. Romans tells us that we are heirs with God and joint heirs with Christ. Today I am meditating on His righteousness being the first step of our inheritance.

See you guys in Class on Sunday.

There is a lot of wisdom from our sister here. Charlie

I have seen a lot of complaining about the immoral displays/actions of people during the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Although I understand the concerns, sinners will be sinners and for Christians to expect sinners to behave respectfully to our morals is naive.

What really bothered me was the obsession with darkness and death that was on display.

1) There were 8 to 10 effigies (for lack of a better word) of Marie Antoinette standing in windows beheaded and holding her head in her hands at the waist. This bothered me more than anything else I saw.

2) The mask person carrying the Olympic Flame reminded me of Charon, the boatman on the river Styx in Greek mythology. Especially since he/she appears in the boat picking up the three children.

Again, I was concerned with the theme of darkness and death displayed here. But then again, sinners love darkness rather than the light. So, I should not be surprised.

We have, globally, so watered down the gospel of Jesus Christ that people do not really know what the truth is. For that matter, I am not sure many in the church really understand the true Biblical gospel of Jesus Christ.

The greatest concern in the church may not be that people reject God Outright but rather that they neglect His Word. ( Christ Centered Exposition Commentary, Jeremiah)

Galatians 3:13
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

There is discussion about what does it mean to be born-again. I would like to discuss the fruit of being born again.

This includes the following doctrines.
1) New Covenant
2) Reconciliation
3) Justification
4) Sanctification
5) Freedom from the curse of the Law
6) Adoption
7) Betrothal
8) Transferal of Kingdoms
9) There may be other benefits as thought of

Today I would like to talk about freedom from the curse of the law (The Law of Moses or Mosaic Covenant).

First thing we need to understand is that the Mosaic law is not a curse. The Mosaic Law is holy and right. It was given to the Jews (and us) by God to reveal to us His righteousness (His standard for what is right). Its purpose was to show us that we could not live us to His standard for what is right.

Paul says in Romans 7:14 - "Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.". The law is not evil and is not the curse.

The curse of the law is the curse that is on man because we cannot obey the Law. Romans 1:18 reads "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,"

The curse of the Law is the wrath of God destined for all who have rebelled against God's law. If we die without Christ, we will face the wrath of God at the final judgment.

However, Romans 5:9 read's 'Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.'. One of the benefits of Christ death on the cross is that God's wrath was satisfied.

Scripture refers to propitiation several times, especially in Romans and 1 John.

Propitiation is a theological word that means, 'Through the "propitiation" sacrifice of Christ, he who believes upon Him is by God's own act delivered from justly deserved wrath and comes under the covenant of grace. Never is God said to be reconciled, a fact itself indicative that the enmity exists on man's part alone, and that it is man who needs to be reconciled to God, and not God to man. God is always the same and, since He is Himself immutable, His relative attitude does change towards those who change. He can act differently towards those who come to Him by faith, and solely on the ground of the "propitiatory" sacrifice of Christ, not because He has changed, but because He ever acts according to His unchanging righteousness. (Vine's Expository Dictionary of NT Words, https://www.studylight.org/dictionaries/eng/ved/p/propitiation.html).

When Christ died on the cross, my sin and your sin were placed on Jesus. Because He became our sin sacrifice, He received the wrath of God in our place. He received the full 'curse of the law' in our place. This is what propitiation means. The wrath of God was satisfied in Christ. When we come to Christ for salvation, the wrath of God that was for us was removed because we received the righteousness of Christ.

When Christ died on the cross, He bore our sin. When we accept Him as Lord and Savior, we receive His righteousness. Therefore, we have been 'SET FREE FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW.

Unfortunately, today, there are many who try to live under the law as the Jews did. Both Paul and James taught that if we seek to be justified by law, we must obey the law perfectly. Paul goes as far as to say that if we seek to be justified by the law, we have fallen from grace, which means (I think) that when we seek to be justified by the law, there remains no grace for us.

Christ has set us free from the curse of the law, why would we ever want to go back to the law.

That does not mean we do not walk in obedience and holiness. Obedience and holiness do not bring salvation. It is the evidence that we have been born-again. Obedience is the sign of a love relationship with Papa and Jesus. It is not required for salvation but is the fruit of salvation.

What is propitiation? | GotQuestions.org 05/27/2024

Propitiation
Romans 3:21-26:
21 But now apart [p]from the Law the righteousness of God has been revealed, being witnessed by the [q]Law and the Prophets, 22 but it is the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those [r]who believe; for there is no distinction, 23 for all [s]have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God displayed publicly as a [t]propitiation [u]in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, [v]because in God’s merciful restraint He let the sins previously committed go unpunished; 26 for the demonstration, that is, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who [w]has faith in Jesus.

Hebrews 2:17
Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

1 John 2:1-2
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an [a]Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2 and He Himself is the [b]propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

1 John 4:9-10
By this the love of God was revealed [a]in us, that God has sent His only Son into the world so that we may live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the [b]propitiation for our sins.

Propitiation:
• means of reconciliation with God by atoning for sins; or sin-offering: BibleGateway.com

• 1: the act of gaining or regaining the favor or goodwill of someone or something : the act of propitiating : appeasement
2: something that propitiates or appeases
specifically: an atoning sacrifice: Merriam-Webster Dictionary

• The word propitiation carries the basic idea of appeasement or satisfaction, specifically toward God. Propitiation is a two-part act that involves appeasing the wrath of an offended person and being reconciled to him. GotQuestions.org/propitiation.html

Propitiation is an incredible concept in Scripture. This is a twofold concept.
1) Jesus became the propitiation through His death on the cross.
2) By His death, Jesus made propitiation for us.

What does this mean?
1) When Jesus died on the cross, the wrath of God was satisfied. He received judgment for sin, my sin, so that I could be reconciled to Father. Romans 5:8-11
2) Because God’s wrath was satisfied on the cross, we are reconciled to God and when we receive and acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior, we are adopted into Father’s family. 2 Corinthians 5:18-21; Colossians 1:19-20; Romans 5:8-11

When Jesus said, ‘It is Finished’ (John 19:20), He proclaimed that everything required for you and me to be reconciled to Father was satisfied.

There is nothing else required to obtain salvation. EVERYTHING has been accomplished on the cross for our salvation and reconciliation to Father.

Any activity added to the work of the cross (baptism, speaking in tongues, or anything else) adds to the work of the cross and is invalid. Adding works to salvation, nullified the work of the cross. Salvation is totally by grace through faith in Christ alone. Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:4-7.

Adding any works to salvation is man’s way to be involved in salvation. Adding any works to salvation, nullifies the work of the cross. Salvation is one hundred precent the work of God through the death of Jesus Christ.

Works are important, but not for salvation. Works do not save us, but if we are truly born again, truly saved, then it will reflect in the way we live out lives. That is the importance of works. Not to save us, but to reflect the finished work of Christ bearing fruit of righteousness in our life.

What is propitiation? | GotQuestions.org What is propitiation? How did Christ’s death on the cross satisfy God’s wrath?

A lot of people say they people in God or that they believe in Jesus. I suppose that is good, but I think the bigger question is do we believe God or do we believe Jesus..

Many say they believe in God, but their life does not reflect such a belief. Believing in God does not alter how they live.

If we say we believe God or believe Jesus, then we are saying we believe what He says and our life will reflect that belief.
