Larger Than Life - Slow Men Working!
Maybe you've seen them in stained glass or perhaps you've had the opportunity to view them in some artist's masterpiece. They're the greats... the all stars... larger than life, coming off the pages of the New Testament. They're the disciples... or the apostles. The two names are used interchangeably. A disciple was one who heard and applied. An apostle was one sent. They were both. But before we revered them in stained glass, Jesus found them with stained lives. He saw them, not as what they were, but as what they would become. The common element was their uncommon God. Their story, it turns out, was not them at all, but their Savior. That's the way it is with us. Join us in the adventure and the agony as we look at their lives and seek to become LARGER THAN LIFE.
Reminder: We will hold only 1 single service tomorrow, Sept. 1st! Join us in person or online at 9:30am!

Re-Consider
Do you have a student in 6th-12th grade? THIS WEDNESDAY at 7 PM is a great way for YOUR WHOLE FAMILY to set the tone for the new school year! We hope to see you at The Heights Fellowship!
Being human is hard. I want to have Peace and Joy and the fullness of the Spirit, so I work hard at it, many times only to give in to my struggles with selfishness, ambition, jealousy, loneliness and irrational anger or sadness. I'll try to focus on being gentle and kind and patient and then snap at my wife and kids. I have been blessed more than anyone I know and can still get caught up in comparison that leads to discontent. It can be disheartening when I think about all the ways I miss the mark.
Galatians has been a healthy study for me over this last year as it has helped me understand that my focus needs to change from the Fruit to the Root.
Cinto N Natalie Sanchez and I will be co-leading a study on Galatians this Fall beginning the Wednesday night after Labor Day. Love for you join us.

In Real Life: The Study Of James – The Spec And The Spiritual - Part 2
Some writings easily identify as ‘New Testament’ writings. When we think New Testament destinations, our GPS quickly goes to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The Acts of the Apostles or Letter to the Romans are vastly recognizable. Even material with weird sounding names like Galatians and Colossians or Ephesians and Philippians ring familiar. Then there is the Letter of James…
It is one of the least-known texts in the Bible. James is not widely quoted, and the message of James is sometimes hard…er, harsh in light of the love and grace expressions found in other places in the New Testament. People have long struggled with the message of James, really for one definite reason: James is preoccupied with the practice of the faith.
Its just like life. There are a lot of things that are ideologically sound…they look good on paper. They seem strong in theory. James is a pragmatist at his core. His writing in probably the earliest written of all the New Testament. He is less interested in theories and more interested in what it looks like In Real Life.

What is the “Heights Experience”?
The “Heights Experience” is designed for anyone who is interested in drawing close to God. Expect to be welcomed, to be refreshed, to understand, to be engaged, and to leave changed. Whether you were raised in church or you have only a little exposure to church, we want you to know you’re welcome and wanted. We have tried to take away a lot of the man-made “stuff” that keeps people away from God and create an environment where they can approach Him. We strive to create an environment that is relaxed and casual and unimposing; where the activity and vocabulary are familiar; and, where people can understand that God is on their side, wanting them to draw near and relate to Him.
The Heights Fellowship church family gathers to celebrate together twice each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Click here to contact us!
Our goal is to remove as many of the man-made (church-made) obstacles between people and God as possible, so you can relate to Him and let Him do His work in your life.
The “Heights Experience” is all about you having a God-moment, maybe for the first time in a long while. We want people to know the “difference different makes!”
