One Texas community turned an Air Force base closure into opportunity. With EDA's support, the Reese Technology Center (RTC) in Lubbock, Texas has attracted $5M in private investment, a data center, a trucking school and brought logistics, industrial and aerospace companies to the area.

This investment has allowed RTC to host a public/private research initiative through the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. This effort seeks to commercialize the use of drones for infrastructure inspection, agricultural monitoring, and rural healthcare delivery—all of which are in high demand in Texas.
