TODAY is the world premier of the award-winning short film Waving. Starring Ralph Ineson, Waving is an unflinchingly honest portrayal of OCD. It tells the story of Charlie, a father in a self-imposed exile to shield his family from his OCS and the destructive thoughts he cannot escape. The link to watch at 2pm is in our story!
Emily’s time with us is sadly coming to an end, but we are excited for all that her future has to hold! Thank you for being a valued member of the CBT Baltimore team this year, Emily! We will miss you! 🫶🏼
It is still and today we are focusing on what you can do to fill your cup! Sometimes it can be hard to look at life through a “glass is half full” lens. When that is more difficult, here are some fun ideas to fill your cup ☕️ What are some activities you like to do that help to fill your cup?
Happening tonight!
Calling all parents out there: We see you. You're trying your best. When our children struggle with anxiety we feel it too. It's hard to put into words how difficult it can be watching your child struggle with anxiety. Let's be honest. The never-ending cycle can also breed frustration and a sense of powerlessness. You may have tried bringing your child (of any age) for help only to keep bumping into roadblocks.
Well, there may be hope yet! We hope you will consider joining us for an (free) introduction to a model that empowers parents on how to best support and help their children who struggle with anxiety.

Reggie Miller jokingly said “the Boogeyman is coming” in a recent interview. But how real is this statement actually? Sometimes, when something bad happens, we develop statements about those around us or even generalize them to the world around us when we feel we are tainted by a certain experience. In short, our own Boogeyman. We end up developing rules for life that help us to survive, but we need to face our own Boogeyman head on in order to truly move forward.

Today is day 8 of and we are focusing our ✨attention✨ on what we give our attention to, see what we did there? 😉 But really, you are in charge of the massive company that IS your mind! How much of your limited time and energy are you spending on what you should’ve, could’ve, would’ve done? How much focus goes to check check checking the same thing time and time again? How much goes to ruminating on the future or what others are thinking about us? While we certainly cannot always prevent thoughts from entering our minds, we can choose how much of our attention budget we allocate toward them.

When anxiety strikes, we may feel hopeless and feel as if nothing is in our control and we can’t do anything to aid the situation. Fun fact: this isn’t true! When we are plagued with anxiety, we can ask ourselves two questions: what is in our control and what is not in our control? And the question that follows that is the most important: what do I want to do next that fits with my values? And we aren’t insinuating that this is easy or will feel natural the first time or even the tenth time, but with practice, commitment to healing, and taking things one step at a time, we are confident that you’ll get there 😊

It’s finally May, the sun is shining, and it is mental health awareness month! If this is a time of struggle for you, we understand that it can be hard to see so much messaging around mental health awareness because when you’re struggling, you’re already so aware. If this content is difficult to see, take care of yourself! Leave your phone at home and get out into nature or engage in self care 💙 if you are up to a place of spreading awareness, we’d love to see how you do so! Please feel free to tag us in your photos of spreading awareness of mental health, sharing your stories of recovery, and your takeaways. We will spend the month focusing on different ways to take care of your mental health, highlighting certain mental health conditions, and encouraging you to be kind to your mind 🧠🌸🩷
Tomorrow starts a new month — for some of us, maybe we couldn’t wait for April to be over, for others, maybe April was a time of joy, finding ourselves, or living in the moment. May is a clean slate — a new month, 31 fresh days to enjoy, discover, find happiness in, and do whatever your heart desires. April may have brought you showers, but as the tale tells, May is to bring flowers 🌷 Just hold on and see 🪻🌼🌺🌻

We are starting a new series today known as , in which we will share tidbits from past podcast episodes that you, our followers, can apply to your lives. And up first is our episode with .white3! Michaela struggled to get mental healthcare in the military and was met with many challenges and barriers to get the care she so desperately needed. Despite the difficulty, she pushed the boundaries and leaped over the barriers, with a supportive team behind her, and was able to get the support she needed. Way to advocate for yourself, Michaela 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 And now, she dedicates her Instagram content to showing up as a mental health advocate in the hopes of helping just one person, because she never wants anyone else to feel the way she did when she was trying to get help. This is a message we can certainly apply to our own lives. Whether it’s getting mental healthcare or having our needs fulfilled in the work place, sometimes you have to be your own advocate even if you stand alone. Your needs MATTER and so do you! 👏🏼 Michaela’s episode is streaming wherever you find our podcasts, as well as linked in our story!

In talking to a variety of people, it sounds like many of us are in a tough season of life. Maybe it looks like loss or grief, healing from something we shouldn’t have to heal from, or just making it through the day. Today, we offer you comfort, hope, inspiration, forgiveness, motivation, and peace — please take what you need 🌷
Mid-week check in: how is everyone feeling? Is your week moving along quickly or is it one of those weeks where every day drags? Have you had a chance to get outside and get some Vitamin D from this beautiful MD sunshine? Let us know how you’re feeling in the comments! AND don’t forget to check on your friends, too!
As .kelsiemarie learned, life does not always turn out the way we think it will. When met with unthinkable tragedy, Kelsie didn’t stop in her tracks, she realized that she had a greater purpose of helping other men and women through the same experience she had, and bonding with those who could relate to her loss. When bad things happen, we have two options: we can disappear and cease to function, or we can get up and do something about it. Kelsie’s story is a true testament to the latter, the doing something about it, in her advocacy work and in her work with her non-profit, 💜 Kelsie’s episode of Mental Filter is now streaming at the link in our story and wherever you find your favorite podcasts!

How can we apply batting averages in baseball to our own lives? We have to consider what’s a realistic batting average in baseball, but also, what’s a realistic batting average for our own lives. We can’t expect too much from ourselves, especially in a time of struggle, because when we do, and we don’t achieve it, we attack ourselves as if we’re a complete failure. But, if a baseball player gets up and starts the season thinking, “hey, I should be able to bat a thousand”, and have a strikeout, they may think, “oh, maybe I should quit baseball because I’m not batting a thousand”. It is about thinking what is a fair expectation for ourselves in all of the different arenas of our lives.

What's your first thought when you hear about a house fire or mass casualty? It's likely to run out of the building or immediately get to safety. For our first responders, their instinct is to run into the burning building and towards the gunfire. This week's episode features Chaya Deitsch, of the Baltimore City Sheriff's Office department of Emergency Management, in which she shares the adrenaline that comes with an emergency and how solutions to different emergencies come about.
To learn more about emergency management, you can simply do a quick search of your local government and emergency management opportunities in your area!

It’s almost baseball season and we are in the thick of spring training! This is a time for players to gear up for the season and work on their skills to perform better once the season comes. But it’s not just about working on it when someone’s watching, sustained success comes from what goes on behind the scenes, when there’s no one in the stands and nothing on the line so when the big moments come, they can perform. When it comes to therapy, we can’t just practice our skills in the therapy office or in a moment of crisis, we have to keep working on our skills and ourselves behind the scenes, when there’s no crisis or serious dilemma.
At least once in our lives, we will experience loss, whether it be loss of a career, a family member, a sense of security, or a significant other. Today's podcast co-host, Capt. Kelsie Hancock, shares her story of love, loss, and resilience, when she lost her fiance, Capt. Nick "Sloppy" Losapio and the crew of Swift-11 in an MV-22B training exercise in Holtville, CA on June 8, 2022. Kelsie has a unique story, but unfortunately, not a unique experience as a significant other who has lost their partner due to a line of duty death or mishap.
If you want to further connect with Kelsie and learn more about The Purple Skies Foundation, you can visit their website, thepurpleskiesfoundation.com or follow them on Instagram .
Today's episode is in memory of the crew of Swift-11, including Capt. Nicholas Losapio, Capt. John J. Sax, Cpl. Seth D. Rasmuson, Cpl. Nathan E. Carlson, and LCpl. Evan A. Strickland.

SETTING BOUNDARIES WHILE DATING WITH SOCIAL ANXIETY It can feel strange to think about our brain lying to us, but that is often what happens when we are dealing with social anxiety disorder ...
If you've seen the news at any point since October 7, 2023, you are more than well aware of what's been happening in Israel. Both the events happening and the response to the events worldwide can be difficult to process, but what's even harder is being on the frontlines. This week we sat down with tour guide and army reservist, Arky Staiman , to hear about his experience working with the IDF.
When Arky isn't on the frontlines, he is helping to spread the love and connection between the Jewish people and their ancestral homeland of Israel. You can learn more about Arky via his website, israelwitharky.com, or connect with him on Instagram .
