We’ve been hard at work! Over the past month, we turned our back stoop project into a full size patio with a hot tub slab, landscaping and a privacy fence.
Greenstone is native to Lynchburg, but is incredibly hard to find, as it stopped being quarried in the 70s. We have a greenstone fireplace, front stoop and walkway around back.
We stumbled upon around 200sq ft of Greenstone pieces, which were thrown deep into our back yard, down a big hill. Some stone was about 2” deep under ground, but it was incredibly satisfying (and hard!) to dig it up and throw it up the hill. We wanted to keep with the historic roots of our 50s home, and were thrilled to be able to use the greenstone found on our property.
We thought we were done, and then my sweet mom said we should have a pad on the other side for our hot tub. We’ve been discussing getting a new hot tub, and figured this was the time to do it! Lots of work and 28 bags of 80lb concrete later, we’ve got a pad!
We are still missing some furniture, outdoor rug, fairy lights, paint on the bottom of the house and window, but we are exciting by how far we have come. We have so much fun goofing off and doing these projects together.

It's been almost a year since we bought our house, and these before pictures from Zillow have us feeling accomplished with how far we've come. We've got a lot of fun DIY projects coming up, and we are excited to share our journey. We've still got a LONG way to go, but here is where we started!
