Personal protective equipment is a critical need for medical personnel during the response. To help protect the supply of PPE while still protecting our service members who are supporting response efforts, you may see members wearing their assigned protective masks. Maj. Gen. Paul Knapp, Wisconsin's adjutant general, and Command Sgt. Maj. Rafael Conde, the state command sergeant major for the Wisconsin Army National Guard, discuss this effort.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
Here is the Safety Send for today:
Can face coverings prevent the spread of the virus?
The primary benefit of covering your nose and mouth is that you protect others. There is increasing evidence that the virus can be spread by pre-symptomatic and asymptomatic carriers.
If I'm wearing a mask and someone sneezes on me, would the mask offer some protection?
Yes. But only if you use the mask properly and don't touch it with your hands afterward.
What about homemade masks?
It’s not clear exactly how effective homemade masks are, but they're a good idea.
How often do I need to wash it?
Think of a mask like underwear: It needs to be washed after each use.
Is there one best mask design?
The best material to use is a tight-weave cotton. Don't use a synthetic or a polyester.
Would a scarf work?
Not as well as a mask that fits closely to your face.

How to Survive Social Distancing
Good informations and tips for mental well-being.
psycom.net Quarantines, isolation, and social distancing due to coronavirus can have mental health consequences. Here's how to get through it safely.
From time to time we receive safety tips about Covid-19. When beneficial we will post them here. The Safety Tips for today are:
•WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN SOMEONE I KNOW IS DIAGNOSED WITH THE CORONAVIRUS?
1. You should help the person with basic needs in the home and provide support for getting groceries, prescriptions, and other personal needs.
2. If the person is getting sicker, call his or her healthcare.
3. Household members should stay in another room or be separated from the person as much as possible. Household members should use a separate bedroom.
4. You AND the person should wear a facemask if you are in the same room.
5. Perform hand hygiene frequently. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
6. Wash laundry with normal laundry soap and dry on a hot setting. Keep dirty laundry away from your face and body. Wash your hands right after touching dirty laundry.
7. Clean all “high-touch” surfaces, such as counters, tabletops, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards, tablets, and bedside tables, every day.
COVID-19 - Army Emergency Relief
ARNG Soldiers who are not in a Title 10 status can apply for AER assistance related to COVID-19. Please see the links below for eligibility. There appears to be a provision for non-Title 10 Army (as this was sent to us from NGB) and this may benefit families with deployed personnel.
While we don't know if there are deadlines for application, here are links to forms which requires that you involve your immediate commander for awareness and approval.

Be On the Watch for COVID-19 Scammers
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic gripping the Nation, scammers are ready to strike unsuspecting citizens by posing as the IRS, medical professionals, internet businesses, banks, student loan processors, and other trusted agencies.
Be mindful that scammers are following the news just like you. Avoid being deceived by their unscrupulous behavior. Watch for red flags:
urgency or pressuring you to act quickly; scarcity or supplies are limited and you must purchase quickly to avoid losing out; social consensus - everyone is doing it so it must be legit; and, claiming to be from a creditable organization to gain trust so you will give up valuable personal information or account numbers.
Educate yourself and your family. Avoid answering calls from people you do not know. Make sure to make
purchases from reputable sources. Be careful about downloading apps or clicking on links in emails or on your computer.
If you have questions or need assistance, the Service Member Support Division is here to assist.

Staying home as much as possible is the best way to lower COVID-19 infection rates. But if you need a place with space, getting outdoors has both physical and mental benefits.
Here’s the latest update for our state parks and trails beginning March 24, 2020.
☀️ Entrance fees at all Wisconsin State Parks and Trails are WAIVED.
☀️ Restrooms on state properties will remain open given there are enough resources, cleaning supplies and access to personal protective equipment for staff to maintain them.
☀️ The following buildings on all DNR properties are closed to the public: Park headquarters, offices, visitor centers, nature centers, research stations, ranger stations, shooting ranges, fish hatcheries, shelters, showers, concessions, and indoor group camp buildings.
☀️ All campsites (individual, group, and indoor) are closed through April 30, 2020. No new reservations will be accepted until further notice.
☀️ Wisconsin’s waters are open. You can fish if you have a license. Normal season regulations apply.
☀️ All current regulations apply for hunting, trapping, and fishing seasons.
Distance is key during this public health emergency. Please do not congregate at restrooms, self-registration stations or electronic kiosks. Additionally, do not gather in groups of 10 or more people and maintain six feet of distance from others.
